He brought in a battery to be tested. He stood at the door, bent down and pushed the battery across the floor to me, then quickly backed up about 10 foot. He was completely paranoid.

Part of me felt sorry for him because he was so afraid.

The rest of me wanted to say, " If you are that paranoid, go the fuck home, lock the door, never go out again and pay some person with a brain to go out and run your errands."

We all wear masks at the shop, only because our boss is afraid of being sued.

This shit has gotten completely ridiculous.

Was the battery in decent shape though? Did it hold power?

Stopped in a local gas station as I saw the owner inside, who I knew for years, and went inside, as I had a question about an auto problem. Neither of us had masks on, but he acted like I was going to attack him and kept backing up. This is not about politics, but the fear in some people is unbelievable. He should have posted a mask only sign on his door.

I went on an estimate the other day and the potential customer asked me if I had my flu shot. I said no. She started creeping backwards like I just farted. I said what’s wrong why are you backing up? She says I’m not backing up, so I took a few steps forward towards her, she start backing up even more. I said you’re backing up now I think maybe I should leave. She said no everything‘s OK. I said why don’t you go in another room while I measure your fireplace and I’ll send you an email in less than 48 hours. So that’s what she did, and I just walked out the door and never sent her an estimate. Most people are just fucking freaks

It gets cold in the winters here. This time of year people get theirs tested to make sure their cars will start in the cold weather. But they usually bring the whole car in.

Did your boss take it all seriously for a month? And then was like fuck it? But he dont ride with customers or greet people, now that's going too far for him to risk his or his families health, but you, well, no big deal, go ride with that customer now, get to it! While he sits in his office? When he is there. He should be worried about getting sued.

Actually we don't. We just do minor repairs and maintenance, we do drive them into the shop, without the customer though.

Sad that people aren't prepared for Emergencies, physically, intellectually, or emotionally.

ALL people can be gauged by the Grief Stages, they are ALL in one of these:

denial, anger, bargaining, depression, or acceptance.

People in denial haven't done enough research to make a determination about safety or coping with an event.

People who have moved to anger will lash out, usually projecting their fear and negative emotions on others.

Bargaining is interesting, people act weird in their efforts to get someone to help them, because they don't know the right questions or who to ask.

You should thank that customer. Because if you don't think families of mechanics will sue if their boss doesn't take it seriously except for their own families, while throwing the mechanics out there come what may...while they sit in their office spraying disinfectant, well, you got another thing coming. They will sue. Come what may!

Are you really that afraid of this? I have dealt with hundreds of unmasked people each month for months now. Not one person in our shop has been sick. We know the masks will not stop a virus. If it is so bad, why have we not been sick?

I've seen grown men reduced to cowering in fear and overcome with anxiety.
