I think after all you've said...............it's Occam's razor. You are affiliated with a dealer. You happened to mention the chip one day at work. Maybe you took her car into work later on to have an oil change or something and they fixed the chip without telling you. Simple as that.

If there is no sign of repair then you too could have jumped realities to where it was never chipped.
