When I lived there I used to read the International Herald Tribune, I read an article about an Iman who lived in Holland, he was some well known Muslim leader, and how this guy and others were trying to influence local customs. He complained that the Dutch care more about dogs than children, because the Dutch tend not to have a ton of kids, and they love dogs and other animals. I thought it was extremely bold for this foreigner who had moved to Holland for a better life to attempt to dictate to the Dutch people how they should live, criticizing them because they love dogs, which are considered dirty in Islam. That was a hint of things to come from these people.
