Despite widespread vaccination availability and even the U.S. CDC saying that vaccinated people no longer need to wear masks, Toronto has decided to cancel an entire summer's worth of social functions.

The city has cancelled "all major in-person events for a second straight summer," CBC reported on Friday.

As the city continues to fight off large numbers of Covid cases during the pandemic's third wave (whatever that even means at this point), it has made cancellations all the way through Labour Day. Previously, provincial officials had been hoping for normalcy beginning in July or August.

That doesn't look like it's going to be the case. The city has cancelled events like the Canadian National Exhibition, Taste of the Danforth, the Caribbean Carnival and Salsa in Toronto.

The city is making the decision in May because organizers asked for "as much advanced notification as possible". So now they have it: Toronto will officially have nothing going on during the summer.

Mayor John Tory said that he thought the city would be in better shape by late summer, but he wasn't sure it would be safe to be "shoulder to shoulder" with large groups of people.

This could be the one that brings in martial law to Canada. The road map states that martial law will be declared in Q3 (July to September, 2021). Note that the House of Parliament will not be sitting (in session) at that time. However, only a majority from a quorum of 20 members (from any party) is required for the federal Emergency Act (martial law) to be declared. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong (about the quorum).

I printed this out when I first saw it last year. We put a tick mark next to the items when they come true. So far we haven't missed one item on the list.

Next up is UBI and Supply chain break down, although everyone is already on CRB (free money for not working) and there are a lot of cracks that are appearing in the supply chain but I am hesitant to put ticks in these boxes yet. I can't actually buy anything to prove supply chain is broken since all the stores are closed and the ones like walmart that are open I am not allowed to buy any products except food as they are all fenced off from the public.

Soooooo the one time a GLP post was correct

It called all 3 Ontario lockdowns, back in October 2020, to the months--it called how they occurred ie in stages in November, rolling lockdowns as it stated with larger municipalities first, then province wide

It then also correctly called lockdown 3 with the police restrictions - which were oddly lifted one day after.

Military never got called.

Warning the province appears to be entering a fourth wave of the novel coronavirus, Premier François Legault announced Thursday his government is imposing a vaccine passport system to curb the spread of COVID-19.

Health Minister Christian Dubé will outline over the coming days how the passport system will work and when it will begin, Legault told reporters in Montreal.

When it first launched the idea for vaccine passports in early July, the government had said it planned to introduce the system in September. The plan was to require Quebecers to show proof of vaccination to access non-essential services in parts of the province where COVID-19 transmission is high.
