The effects of gravity can be observed directly by motions of planets and stars. Gravity causes every atom in the universe to be attracted to every other atom. The only stable structure that doesn't violate this law is sphere-ish.

So, you can either believe that the earth is a spheroid, or you can believe that this is the only place in the universe where the law of gravity does not apply. Up to you to choose, I guess.

This could be accomplished on either a globe or a flat plane, so this proves nothing.
