The election would not be invalid. There are other candidates from other parties on the ballots for president. Biden would still have his votes counted but would not be eligible to be president. Kamala is not running for President so she could not step up to take the spot as this was not on the ballot as such. Remember how Democrats prevented Kayne West from being on the ballot for being 14 seconds late for the deadline, democrats also cannot just add a name, it is too late for them.
