Re: Work-At-Home Crowd: Tone Deaf To The Rest Of Us.
Right now, I'm working ER and working for an electrical contractor playing tool gopher and bending conduit. I am also taking a course I need to apply to Respiratory Therapy skewl.

Ironically, in spite of having a BS in Biochem, an AAS in Paramedic Technology and Fire Science, an AAS in Electronics and Electrical Engineering, a certificate in carpentry and masonry, a certificate in industrial electrical, and a couple of graduate certificates, I have only had a combined A&P and I need human phys plus a couple of other classes.

One of my professors is some ultra-left bimbo with baby-brain as she's a 'new mommy' while extolling the virtues of abortion. I have to tolerate, I need the class by spring. Well, I went and stuck my foot in my mouth and told her fuckin' idiot husband who butted in on our Zoom conversation that some of us who live on Planet Earth don't have the luxury of working from home.

His response and this sums up educators: You should have made better life choices. I shit you not.

I swear to Christ if me and this pasty fuckin', bushy-bearded, hipster cuck had been face-to-face I'd have knocked his damned teeth out! I mean, seriously just a 3-2 and dropped his ass to the pavement. ]

I am so sick of this! Pray to the Lord to give us all strength.

if its a work at home job that means it can be outsourced.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 79483559

This 100%. Transcription (medical) was outsourced then offshored years ago followed by legal transcription (insurance claims, witness statements, etc.) and now coding (medical) is outsourced and offshored. All of these jobs were those I did at home. So, yeah, work at home jobs can absolutely be outsourced, and are.

And none of this has stopped under Trump and none of it will ever be stopped either as long as the for profit crowd run this country.

They will sell every thing in this country including your mother and it is destroyed and bankrupt to fatten their greedy wallets.

This is a fact.

This is a major LARP. If it were possible they would’ve taken a video of the hack, not simple screenshots.

And how convenient the “hacker’s” script is in Russian. I’d need to see the actual code before I’d ever begin to believe it is possible.

All that schooling and still has a shit job.

Maybe schooling isn’t what is needed. Yet your still in school.

Other than trade schools, Universities are a scam.

I went for almost 7 years and got a degree with honors and can't find a job.

Studying Psychology hasn't exactly helped me know how to do anything of value other than explain why people are crazy.

You need to adapt to the new normal and develop skills that you can monetize while at home.

The old normal, going to the office kind of nirmal, isn't coming back and that's good.

No. No it is NOT good. It dehumanizes people. They don’t have face to face contact. This is why that douchebag said what he said to him. He wasn’t there, in person, watching his body language and seeing his intimidation factor, etc.

We evolved to be in human contact and only act appropriately when we are in person, face to face, with others. The more dehumanized we get the more we will not care about what happens to others. The easier it is for us to turn a blind eye.

We will become an evil people.

Same with services like the OP is delivering out in the field.. if people are not out in the field fixing stuff, then there is no fixed stuff. it cannot be achieved by sitting at home and daydreaming about it.

today it feels like theres probably a billion humans trying to compete with eachother from home in the field of who can make the prettiest picture, or snazziest video... And there can only be a handful of winners at that game, and guess what its not going to be europeans or westerners because their living costs are higher, its going to be mr hussain from fucking Bangladesh or some shit who can charge 50 cents an hr.

I saw an article on AI being used for rapid diagnostics on radiography/x ray images, the computer can scan and flag thousands of images a minute and forward the suspected diseased images to a qualified human doctor/oncologist/radiographer... they technically could be in another country like india and paid far less than their american counterparts.

The automation results in hundreds/thousands of first line image analysis staff being non essential and the later stages can be send half way around the world to somebody who gets paid far less.

100% true, it can potentially be outsourced and even potentially automated.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 79483559

Absolutely! The sheer amount of jobs outsourced to Bulgaria from the USA and UK (and many other countries) is staggering - from coders through PAs to telemedicine. "Ability to work night shifts" (because of the 8-hour time difference with the US) is the new buzzword.

By the way, the IMF just issued yet another warning that the world economy should be prepared for hard times (which we already know). The intriguing part is that they are charting a direction towards "DIGITAL, GREEN, FAIRLY DISTRIBUTED" finances for the rest of the century - in other words, they are about to ditch paper money, will funnel finances into the Al Gore-Thunberg scam and will introduce the universal basic income while sequestrating our private assets.

Now it's official.

Re: Work-At-Home Crowd: Tone Deaf To The Rest Of Us.
You need to adapt to the new normal and develop skills that you can monetize while at home.

The old normal, going to the office kind of nirmal, isn't coming back and that's good.

You cannot sustain life on Earth if everybody stays home. And life on Earth can (and was for millions of years) be sustained without banks, governments, money and technology.

OP, you already have the education and can develop the skills for a good WFH job. 2 words: Medical Software. That's just a starting point. Sounds like you have other expertise to add into the mix. Good luck!

I did it. I did it on purpose. And I'll do it again.

I don't owe any student loans. I got my carpentry certificate back 1990. I got my paramedic certificate then my AAS in fire science in 1993. Biochem on scholarship in 2002. Electronics in '07 because I like work with my hands and I was tired of building timber frames.

The cost for a degree was affordable before the 2000s. At a public college a 4-year degree cost about the same as a new car. It could be paid off in 5 years with affordable payments.
