You are incorrect with respect to the Presidency and Vice-Presidency, which are unlike any other public offices.

A vote for a Presidential/Vice-Presidential ticket is actually a vote for a slate of electors committed to that ticket, not for the candidates per se. If the ticket is sponsored by a political party, the electors are presumed to be loyal to that party.

Thus, if a party candidate dies or withdraws before electoral voting in December, that candidate's electors can simply vote for the party's replacement candidate.
