Anyone else feel that Kenny Rogers wasn't given an appropriate send-off due to the public being distracted by covid? | |

Agreed! Seems like his death was swept under the covid rug :( I also grew up with him. Listened to his 8-track tape over and over while my dad and I went hunting. Coward of the County is a great song! The Gambler of course, can't go wrong there. I also like Islands in the Stream with Dolly - another great singer we grew up with =) I worked at a hotel in Los Angeles when I was 18 and 19. I took Dolly Parton's bags to her room. Very cool lady! I even talked to him once on the phone for business (in the mid-'80s), for preparations for an event in Southern Cal. one fantastic tidbit-- Groucho's "You Bet Your Life" was nominally a game show but drew high ratings for showcasing his unbelievable wit. Everybody in show biz knows one of his best lines -- one of his guests told Groucho he had 10 kids. Groucho replied, "I love my cigar, but I take it out once in awhile." The amazing thing is that the line was never broadcast. It went around the world and is remembered to this day purely on word of mouth. One of the great viral moments before there was an internet. |

My uncle used to sing Kenny Rogers songs at weddings...after he had had a few... "Unless it's mad, passionate, extraordinary love, it's a waste of your time.
