IDEA: Why don’t we have an open source free speech internet “of things”?

Everything you are talking about is centralized and controlled by certain groups that decide what you can and cant say. The only way around that is decentralized internet. Mesh nets, obfuscated hidden servers and its becoming more difficult. You cant operate a profitable website anymore without conforming to the joohs.

Except 99.9% of people don’t know a single thing about any one of those options...it needs to be like an iPhone, or Facebook...something people with no experience can wrap their minds around... Heck, I deal with a lot of old people...they have NO understanding of the internet, tweeting, social media, Amazon, email, etc...it literally passed them by. That's just the thing. You don't know HOW your phone works, but you still know how to use it. Most of these technologies won't be anything you consciously interact with. They'll just work. Hopefully, but I have enough days with complicated technology crapping out on me, that I have no real faith in it. And what happens to a society that relies upon technology they don’t understand? When it has a cascading failure, and nobody knows how to fix it? That’s the stuff science fiction novels are made of, and I’ve read a few along those lines...you basically have cavemen trying to fix a hydraulic elevator, with electronic controls....it’s just not gonna happen. I’m assuming your robots will magically fix this? Unless you are part of the structure housing low income workers...in which case you might all die because the Algorithm determines your not worth the repair. Have fun with that...
