A Heartfelt Tribute to a GLP'er

Thank you.

Several years ago I was at the end of my wits.
My husband was very ill and I had a daughter who wanted to play trumpet for the high school band. She started in 6th grade, so I bought what looked like a 1915 model trumpet from a guy at the gas station for $100. Boy was it rough. A member's dad worked on all the trumpets and kept piecing it together the best he could. Every day she would come home saying I can't play this trumpet anymore, it's falling apart. Until one day, it really did.
I couldn't even afford to rent one at the time. That's how tight things were. I was travelling two hours, one way, to see my hospitalized husband and a trumpet was the least of my worries. But it was her dream.

So, I thought, what the hell. It was in November or December that year, I jumped on GLP and prayed, "Lord, let someone here be our blessing."

Sure enough, before the day was over, a very kind person here named Patrick, had a beautiful trumpet he wasn't using and we worked out the details and he shipped it to our home. She cried, I cried. It was a great day. He asked for nothing in return, only that she play in good health.
All these years later, I want to thank him for his kindness and generosity that day.

This is her senior year in college. She's been playing for the greatest marching band in college football history since her Freshman year she's earned a spot on that field.

As a music major who has just applied to grad school, I wanted you to know that you made a life for that little girl you were so kind to have helped that day.
She still has the trumpet and it still means the world to her that a total stranger would care enough to do something that awesome.
