Anonymous Coward User ID: 58967085 United States 10/29/2020 10:47 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | What you should do is use heat shrink film on windows to keep out drafts and use space heaters. I suggest you put an electric tea kettle, a microwave, and a dorm sized refrigerator in too. You should enlarge your pantry and get a freezer and buy food in bulk when it is on sale.Buy extra turkeys, carve them up, and use freezer bags and vaccuum seal them so it doesn't get freezer burnt. Everyone has to tighten up belts. Buy everything used like clothing at rummage sales. |

Suck it up. Life ain't perfect. Whatever hardship you experienced is NITHING like people went through during the Great Depression. Get over it. You won't starve. You're a moron if you try to wing it in an urban area. It's too expensive and you are homeless and unemployed. |

You create pathways to Joy and Happiness and Developing Talents and Interests in people. Uplift them. ie trades, plumbing, electrical, alternative home building, furniture, workshops, greenhousing, energy production and inventions, art, writing, music, pottery, textiles, weaving, spinning, dyeing fibres and hand painting fabrics, glass production. You'd have gangs of teens that could volunteer in local towns and communities to repair the elders homes and roofs for next to nothing. Development of human talents, potentials, practical and creative skills both equally. And free to affordable transportation and adventures to all the local cities. I've even thought if you're able to network but low income, or just can't afford to be stuck, find a group of like minded who get together and you'd really need to know them, so you fix up second hand RV's, and do some businesses together and move around like gypsies and lock the money into term deposits where no none can steal it, and get that land. I would start with treating that. Quoting: diverdan01 Once again that's a choice...the healthy man gets up and has an apple to satisfy a craving, whereas the homeless man goes out to steal something and sell it for heroin... yeah its a life choice and they chose wrong..obviously, but what to do about it? |

All these tents and blankets in our cities are ugly, AGREED but what do you suggest for the problem of homelessness? We're supposed to be the greatest and wealthiest nation ever, right? How do we fix this? Or should we not try and let the poorest continue to sprawl out and survive as best they can? They need to be arrested and assigned a financial counselor to get them on the right track...that will lead to mental health care workers and case workers to help find affordable housing and jobs... How do we fix this? Or should we not try and let the poorest continue to sprawl out and survive as best they can? I don’t understand how a person with native English can’t afford rent in English-speaking country. Living in a very expensive city - just move anywhere much cheaper. Find a job as a starter? Find a better job after that? Start with not paid/volunteer job? All those things that they teach immigrants (legal immigrants). Find survival job and learn a new profession if you did not learn to do anything useful yet? Thousands of immigrants (not refugees) come to USA and Canada and do well even when starting with no English or money in their pockets. If a person was born in USA and Canada and cannot find a job, it means he/she does not want to find a job. There is no such thing as “can’t afford a rent”. But there is a thing ‘don’t want to do anything to afford a rent’. |

Well, families did this in history and that is likely who will.do it now. Blame globalism. All these folks who are going to be unemployedhave service jobs. And they'd be already doing this. Should have been done all along. And setting up each eco farm as its own branch and local councils of citizens. There shouldn't be any homeless at all. Thousands of years of people herded into scarsity and dog eat dog survival by wormshit demons running the world. So many dreams, happiness, joy, talents destroyed and wasted. So many lost and hurt and traumatized people and youth. And I've never supported the world's economic systems or its gods. Governments should not and must not run what I'm talking about. So its not a political party thing. Its about being good and caring and decent and getting real organizations run by people, run by councils of citizens, in unity. For the happiness, joy, abundance of all. and development. In the end, where there is no end, for there is really no time, just infinite happiness and growth and helping others, everyone would be buying from all their amazing cottage industries, if there was still money, otherwise contributing Venus Project style. But if they're buying and selling, from each other, they would boycott all globalists and monopolies and destroy the elite. Those days are over. You need to focus on practical living like knowing what is the shelflife of various pantry items. That is what is important as you may be cooking for 8 people now. Everybody pitches in. You aren't running a hotel or restaurant. All those jobs that got neglected, now are done by your hapless relatives. They sign up for whatever food aid, and you eat simple soups and stews and everything is made from scratch. No more prime rib. No more fresh seafood. Not on a hamhocks and beans and cornbread budget. |

Either live there permanently or, with job training and counseling, get employed and move on to their own place after awhile. The first step is to get a roof over their heads with heat and facilities, then the counseling and job training is more long term effective. |

They make ones that are short and fit under beds. Nobody takes long showers. Everyone cleans up after themselves. Everyone has chores. You better plan the garden NOW and so plowing is easier come spring. I suggest you get soaker hoses. Test your soil and add ammenities now. Put down manure now so it overwinters. That is called the French biodynamic method. To get a jump on spring planting, use cloches. You can greatly extend your harvest. You better learn wild edibles now. Your first big project will be tapping maple trees. Read up on freezing maple syrup so yu discard much of the watery sap and then boil down the rest. It would be interesting if people were free to retrofit dead malls into small scale model sustainable villages as a working blueprint for future development of cities. The fountains could even be converted to growing food. It seems America doesn’t even want to try and get creative about a solution, it’s depressing. We have reached the point in time where we need arcologies like the ones from sim city.
