You should enlarge your pantry and get a freezer and buy food in bulk when it is on sale.Buy extra turkeys,carve them up, and use freezer bags and vaccuum seal them so it doesn't get freezer burnt.

Everyone has to tighten up belts. Buy everything used like clothing at rummage sales.

It was very common in history for extended family to take one child and help raise them until the familygot back on their feet..It stinks, but if afamily has four kids, It may not work to keep them all together.

You'd have gangs of teens that could volunteer in local towns and communities to repair the elders homes and roofs for next to nothing.

I've even thought if you're able to network but low income, or just can't afford to be stuck, find a group of like minded who get together and you'd really need to know them, so you fix up second hand RV's, and do some businesses together and move around like gypsies and lock the money into term deposits where no none can steal it, and get that land.

Find a job as a starter? Find a better job after that? Start with not paid/volunteer job? All those things that they teach immigrants (legal immigrants). Find survival job and learn a new profession if you did not learn to do anything useful yet?

Thousands of immigrants (not refugees) come to USA and Canada and do well even when starting with no English or money in their pockets. If a person was born in USA and Canada and cannot find a job, it means he/she does not want to find a job.

There is no such thing as “can’t afford a rent”. But there is a thing ‘don’t want to do anything to afford a rent’.

It would be interesting if people were free to retrofit dead malls into small scale model sustainable villages as a working blueprint for future development of cities. The fountains could even be converted to growing food. It seems America doesn’t even want to try and get creative about a solution, it’s depressing.
