Western medicine is execellent at diagnosing, but they don't try to cure anything. They only try to treat symptoms. That's the failure of western medicine.

Do you guys not understand that they do not want anyone curing cancer?? Cancer is BIG BIG BIG MONEY. So of course they hauled her off and gagged her because if everyone cure skin cancer with some ointment they will lose LOTS OF MONEY $$$$$.

I agree that the AMA can be dangerous. After a botched surgery I was left on 6 prescriptions, all of which they said I needed. It took me over a year to get off all, but one, of the prescriptions and at subsequent doctor visits as I'm telling them how cool acupuncture was and how I wanted no more prescriptions, all they could offer was more prescriptions.

I figure if a doctor can do no more than offer suspicious drugs and I don't want the drugs, why go? There seems to be no more discussion of diet changes or eating well or exercise, it just seems to be "take this pill" and frankly, their pills scare the hell out of me.

I agree with you, Sir or Ma'am; I wish one could go take advantage of the skills and resources of doctors for diagnosis with no risk of a legal disaster later. Unfortunately, in the case of a minor and with serious illness involved, there will be reports made and follow-ups to make sure the parent toes the line according to the rules the AMA sets. Anyone with the knowledge to cure cancer should also have had the knowledge to recognize it when she saw it.

TPTB are not going to let any of us just use their services for what part of them we want and not sign up for all the rest; they'll come after us if we try that. It's all or nothing and we are absolutely on our own if we want to retain the least shred of our freedom. A careful mother is supposed to understand that - especially one already experienced in dealing with a jerk.

...for the mother. The fact that the caner is gone does not constitute proof that she cured it. Occasionally cancer will go into remission without medical intervention; the human immune systems is not completely helpless against cancer, but the odds against spontaneous remission do not recommend this strategy as prudent. It is still negligent endangerment, even if the potential negative consequences did not occur. This woman gambled with her son's life and won. That does not mean it was the right thing to do. For every winner in this 'game' there are at least ten losers, but you will not see the stories of the losers hyped by the faith based medicine crowd.

Stephen Barrett purports to be a board certified expert in psychiatry and the medical field for 35+ years; however, he is not Medical Board Certified because he couldn't pass the cert exams, which he finally claimed in court. The courts finally refuse to recognize him as an expert in anything. He has lost law suit after law suit in libel cases.

The point was to demonstrate the dangers of using these medicines with out knowing what you are doing.The woman was using some dangerous stuff, if you don't believe me I can be a smart guy , like you, and post lots of sources of the dangers in some of these medicines.

So what of all the corporations that disperese carcinogens willy-nilly in our environment? Why aren't they being tried for "negligent endangerment"? The usage of the term "faith-based medicine" in your closing would seem to indicate that you have a profound biased against, and ignorance of, holistic health care modalities and their efficacy. This is outrageous. Unthinkable even to do this to this poor woman and her son. Barbarians!

I can attest to medications being administered that have some seriously nasty side effects.

When I was about 19 I was really ill. After going to the hospital and they did this scan of my liver, these little glowing dots showed up on the scan and doctor and nurse walks out of the room whispering.

That ticked me off so I hollered for them to get back in my room and tell me what was so hush hush. They informed me I had liver cancer and needed to see a surgeon for exploratory surgery and that my liver was enlarged and had a lobe coming off it that wasn't supposed to be there.

Now, I had just come out of two other surgeries not long before. One on my sinuses and another on my stomach.

I was not ready to go under the knife again and I never returned. I got a letter from the doctor saying that I would die if I did not have this surgery done.

I am now 36 years old and hmmm...let me see...I am still kicking.

In 2003 I was ill again and found out it was NOT liver cancer but a rare liver disease called NASH.

Which there is no cure for. But it isn't cancer either.

Prednisone which I was on for years for swelling all over my body...has caused my spine to deteriorate and my teeth are seeing the affects of it. It sucks the calcium from your body. I am now facing time stuck in a wheel chair if this gets much worse. My doctor already is suggesting this to me. I don't want in a wheel chair and refuse to let these medical issues take over my life like that.

There is also nothing they can do about this.

Neurontin which I was on as I have neuropathy...caused me to gain 125 lbs in a six month time span. Although doctors couldn't figure out why I was gaining so much...it took a PHARMACIST to make the statement to me she was surprised I wasn't huge because of the dosage I was taking and that it caused severe weight gain. No one ever mentioned this to me.

I stopped taking it immediately. Then the doctor says yes, it causes massive weight gain. Ok, then why did I undergo so many tests and blood work to find out why I was gaining the weight if they KNEW?

I don't blame this family one bit for not wanting to undergo the chemo. It is a nasty thing to go through and I watched my own adoptive mother succumb to it's dangerous side effects which did nothing to help her in the end. She died from lung cancer...when I was 15.

The state should butt out of people's lives when it comes to their choice of health care for themselves.

If the boy is fine and the alt. treatment worked which apparently it has...they should be congratulated for him being well again.

I hope she sues these nut cases for every penny they got.

CPS should be charged for not giving this kid a proper diet after he was recovering. IDIOTS.
