This would certainly make sense, and the fact that they actually specify that the measure was discussed with neither Biden nor Trump actually lends some credibility to the release - it's not "Trump's voter fraud sting," it's a DHS response to all sides complaining that the other would try to steal the election, especially after the last debacle.

An audit is not a sting - but audits produce information that turns into proof in the case of legal proceedings, which would actually be a MORE legitimate process, because while "sting" could be portrayed as a witch hunt, an audit is non-partisan, and the information it reveals carries more weight.

This election countermeasure was not endorsed or briefed with the President, or candidate Biden. This was a background audit that has been planned since as early as May 2018. In this scenario, it is too certain to tell what the results of this audit will tell us to do.

Until we see an actual DHS announcement that is verifiable i won't be able to think this is happening

it would be nice if a failsafe such as this exists so that ballots printed overseas and on unauthorized printers could easily be identified. That would be really nice.

And after all of the threats of fraud - not even hidden... wouldn't such a step seem COMMON SENSE to most? I actually think it's somewhat stranger that such a method would NOT be used. I mean, currencies, credit cards, legal documents - all watermarked and even the new laser marks (yeah I know, not "new" but...) just to ensure that fraud or forgery isn't possible. Yes, they have watermarks. States add them. That video shows a state made watermark. California changes the watermark color and image every election. This isn’t abnormal. It’s always been this way. Most states do it.
