Aspartame is as you said a sweetener, and so does not fall into the flavouring category.

So apart from spelling the word differently than we do over here in the USA, do you also have a different definition as well? Last time I checked, 'sweet' is a sensation of the tongue, and qualifies as a 'taste'.
