Better get stocked up now for the Holidays

We stocked pantry and the deep freeze a couple weeks ago but could still use a few holiday specific things.

Something tells me that a rude awakening is coming for a lot of the sheeple.

Get what you can while you can...and don't forget salt, pepper, spices, cooking oil....as well as the other basic dry staples

Going tonight to hopefully get ahead of the masses and get the last few things we need for Holidays.

Still going to load up on more of the basics as the "darkest winter" they keep telling us is coming is almost upon us. Better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.

I'd take what they are saying to heart. They are warning those with eyes that can see that they are going to cause a calamity. If you go hungry, that is your fault for not heeding their warnings.

It's important that people know about the strikes.

I will bump every so often to make sure people are aware this is coming.

Like I said, it might be nothing of consequence for some...it might be a big deal for others

Teamsters Union is calling for a nationwide shutdown from Nov 26 thru the 29th. 4 day shutdown

Right at Thanksgiving so there will be few grocery stores getting restocked right before the holiday.

I can smoke some of it, salt cure some of it and dehydrate some of it.

What I can't preserve, I guess we cook on the grill and have a nice feast

good advice..

i got cans galore of food all through the summer...lots of rice, pasta, spices, etc..

i have a small freezer and i dont usually holidays traditioonally but im good or i got a lot of lunches bought for the next year.

dont forget all the other stuff, TP, razors, soap, cleamning stuff, etc...three hundred emergency candles, boxes of matches, etc

you are going to use this stuff in the next year, and prices will probably be higher so if you got the money, at least get a couple months worth..

Or you could just get a "head" start on switching to cannibalism. I'm sure your neighbors could give you a "hand" if you're having trouble on the grill. Just don't break a leg, the bones could splinter and ruin the meat. If you live up North, remember, snow can act as a freezer for meat and other valuables. Primarily the meat. It worked for the Donner party.

Agreed - had this thought myself.

We did a major stocking up on general everday fare last week.

This week I got in the holiday wines we like for special dinners.

This weekend I'll be shopping for the special holiday meal foods we like - at least, those we can get in advance.

Variety on specialty foods is apt to get slim. I expect staples to continue wide availbility but not always on the shelf... like earlier this year... if you wanted just "soup" you could probably find soup, but if you wanted a particular brand and type, you may have to hunt... or wait.

"Wait" doesn't work with holidays. So the smart folks are looking to acquire asap those classic holiday favorites. I already made sure to get the gluten-free turkey gravy mix that is sometimes difficult to find. This weekend I'll be looking for condensed milk for the pumpkin pie, and gluten free crust. Takes up valuable freezer space but man, it just isn't thanksgiving without pumpkin pie.

In addition to solar panels and 850 amp-hour battery array, I've got two Honda dual-fuel generators, 100 gallons of gasoline and four 20# propane tanks and a camping cookstove.

I don't believe we'll be losing anything here, power or no power.

Snow? If you want to have a big natural fridge/pantry that will last long into the summer, you need to make a dug-out and get big blocks of ice from a nearby river, or lake and just put them inside the dug-out. That's what people used to do here in the pre-fridge era. Anyway, such a dug-out can be quite cool even without the ice.
