I won't name the specific company, but they have 250+ sites across the country specializing in refrigerated and frozen storage and shipping. All sites systems are down and they've shut their gates so trucks can no longer enter to pickup product. I know this because I'm the supply chain director for a food company that sells refrigerated dairy products. We use this company as a third party logistics supplier and I'm completely unable to ship Thangsgiving orders from any of their sites across the country. I've got a rough day ahead of me workwise to figure out to mitigate any of this.

Be vigilant.

Finally. I can answer questions because I work at the place he is talking about and I can confirm all systems went down yesterday at 1600. I haven't talked to anyone today yet.

All we would have to do is call Americold and try to set an appt. I bet its got alot to do with vaccine storage and why let a crisis go to waste? If those orders cant be delivered and picked up, that's going to be catastrophic.

Well if its a cyber attack, they will be down for a few days until the paperwork can get them back up.

Being the SHTF on a Sunday afternoon, I would say that they tried to update their systems and it failed.

I’ve got 3’ freezers all full.

If it’s not a long, drawn out time before they open frozen storage, or frozen food - or whatever this is - I’m good.

Why not name the company so we can validate ? Oh...that’s why, we would be able to confirm or deny, and it wouldn’t align with your story. Apparently you don’t have too busy a day since you posted here instead of mitigation huh ?

Highly probable scenario as many companies are struggling to keep their doors open during the pandemic. They could be the suppliers of the restaurant industry as well as groceries but without the supply demands of the restaurant industry they are unable to pay their bills nor meet payroll demands.

This type of sudden shutdown is usually required during bankruptcy filings or going out of business period. But of course we don’t know because you will not give the name and instead choose to spread doom and gloom without any verification, fake news is born in this manner

Oh I am not arguing that state and local leaders will take the opportunity to spend millions needlessly on special refrigerators but just pointing out that one reefer trailer can refrigerate millions of doses of the vaccines in the middle of the desert for years with a fuel supply.

Just saying it’s unnecessary to spend millions when we already have what’s needed to do the job

That's what I'm saying. They should have had what's called a "WAN Failover" in place that if the primary Internet connection drops, it automatically switched to a secondary Internet connection, usually 4G. If they did it correctly, most employees would never have even known the switch had occurred.

I think they likely are going to secure vaccines for distribution but I would imagine that it wouldn't require such a huge operation storage facility that would be nuts.

But maybe? Moderna said theirs can be held in storage for 30 days stable.
