Your typical chest freezer doesn't get to -94 below. They will need Co2 freezers and CO2 tanks, maybe freon might work. Damn...we used to be in that business. All sites systems are down and they've shut their gates so trucks can no longer enter to pickup product. I know this because I'm the supply chain director for a food company that sells refrigerated dairy products. We use this company as a third party logistics supplier and I'm completely unable to ship Thangsgiving orders from any of their sites across the country. I've got a rough day ahead of me workwise to figure out to mitigate any of this. Quoting: SleepysDad Be vigilant. Finally. I can answer questions because I work at the place he is talking about and I can confirm all systems went down yesterday at 1600. I haven't talked to anyone today yet. Less than a month after one acquisition, the cold storage behemoth is taking over yet another player, Hall’s Warehouse Corp, to expand its footprint. The $480m acquisition brings a further 58 million cubic feet of warehouse space to its portfolio. Hall’s operates eight facilities in New Jersey, all within 30 miles of the port of Newark, comprising 200,000 pallet positions and serving 220 customers. According to Americold, the occupancy rate is 95%. Americold president & CEO Fred Boehler said the deal “complements our growing scale in a key market located with one day’s drive of approximately 30% of the population in the US”.” [link to theloadstar.com (secure)] I did confirm that Hall's is not affected. A recent acquisition and wasn't yet integrated with the IT system. Was concerned because we make a lot of deliveries at Hall's sites in NY/NJ to support Restaurant Depot's. Hey - if any of you could reach out to a Lineage or US Cold Site to see if they are having similar issues, we could confirm something impacting the entire industry. Between those two + the one I won't name, probably covers 50% of the entire refrigerated/frozen food supply chain. |

Sounds like someone trying to test run a sabotage mission. Quoting: UTownReturns The vax requires up to -100 which only very specialized and costly coolers can do so that is a no on that. That is true. Been in the refrigeration business for over 40 years. Refrigeration units that get down to the -75 to -100 degrees are very specialized. Normal freezers used in large storage usually can only go down to -20 max. This story has nothing to do about the vaccine. I sort of figured this much. You only need one site to handle the vaccine, systematically shutting down ALL sites is either Quoting: SleepysDad 1) Just a ‘glitch’. Installed a software upgrade gone bad. 2) The GLP’er explanation (from me). Shut down frozen, refrigerated food distribution the week before thanksgiving. I work in the industry, when I have more time I can post further how much damage this could do to our food supply chains if this isn’t quickly resolved. 3) The beginning of a zero day attack, my phone could not access the internet between 10am and just a few minutes ago. I’ll continue to update on situation. So far no improvements. I work for a subsidiary of americold We were out of work yesterday as most of our sups left before lunch time yesterday. The same scenario played out today. We were told if it didn't come back up soon, we would be sent home. Here we are. We only worked 7am until 1035am... That's all the info I have.
