DOOM BREAK THREAD: DOES ANY ONE HAVE ANY KITTENS? NEED SOME ADVICE.
I put my kitty in a cage at night as he sometimes runs around and might end up hurting himself. but i let him loose during the day, but when he's in the cage at night he meow's. so if i take him out and let him snuggle with me he's fine, but just mewo's in the cage. is this attention seeking? and should i ignore it?

PS: Before people say. I do show him attention daily. He's my baby, I let him out to roam free of the house during the day and when he goes in the cage at night he does let out to do his business and have a drink, and a little play.

THANKS IN ADVANCED. HE'S 1 BTW.

Cats can see well at night so he is not going to hurt himself by running around the house at night. It might be annoying to you but after he gets used to being out at night he will settle down and probably come lay with you. He really doesn't need to be in a cage all night. Or at all..

How might he get hurt? Are you afraid of electrical cables or curtain cords?
I think the cage is stressful for him. Is there a small room that might be safe such as a bathroom or laundry room that you could make safe before he is put in? I would include a litter box and food and water for him as well as a place to sleep.
My preference would be your bedroom with you and shut the door so he must stay in that one room.

Kitty is used to being with and near you. I don’t believe a cage is necessary.

Thanks for the feedback all. I'll remove the cage then. I figured this was more likely the issue.. I just worry easily sometimes.. So my mind was thinking safety first.

As for the laying on me stuff he already does all that :). likes sleeping on me, and he's a shoulder kitty...

It’s very traumatizing for a cat or kitten to be in a cage - they are naturally free spirits. As a small kitten they will have more energy and they are also nocturnal - they will grow out of the kitten energy by around 18 months- 2 years. Please let your kitten roam free - you will cause more harm gain good by keeping it in a cage.

Cute kitten. I have been a cat guy my whole life. Have 2 Devon Rex now. Cats just want to be free. They are their own creatures. Super snuggle then despise touch. Gotta let them be. It's worth it.

Youe cat needs to cuddle with you. Putting in cage at night is cruel

Let it be with you and bond.

Its a baby.. let it play and then cuddle

I have had my cat 14 years- he was born in my boyfriends closet lol!! Please don't put Kitty in a cage. They see very well at night, but the kitten has also been taken from his mother. Get him a soft bed to snuggle in- close to you. You are his "mother" now.
