Start with a calling from God to do it. Otherwise its only a building on a farm, built with good intentions.

It starts with paperwork. Lots of paperwork for tax purposes.

If you are serious, I would start by contacting your local Archdiocese. I would also reach out to the parent organizations of the various monk organizations - There are several, including Benedictines, Carthusians, Dominicans, Franciscans, etc. to name a few.

I would expect that you would have to turn over ownership of the property to the monastic parent organization. Good luck.

That's a lot of life long commitment to promise others . I considered something similar years ago and obtained my ministry degree .

After all I learned I changed my mind .
