Magnesium is huge.

So are vitamins C and D3.

I lowered my cholesterol huge by just taking fish oil and Turmeric and not altering my diet.

I don't think the "old man vitamin"(Men's 50+) has hurt,either

Also started taking zinc and vitamin E recently.

Wish I could find something for spinal pain.

You could try going on a no carb diet for a few weeks. Low carb reduces inflamation, which is a likely cause of your spine issue. Just throwing the thought out to you. hf

That reminded me of copper as well.

Supposed to keep your hair from turning grey and is vital to blood vessel health. Deficiency in copper causes aneurysms, varicose veins, etc according to Dr. Wallach. He has his story of being assigned as a vet to investigate why all the turkeys were dying off before they made butchering weight. There was no copper in the turkey feed and they were all dying from aneurysms.

If you need Magnesium its important to look for the compound "Magtein" Magnesium Threonate. Its absorption is nearly 100% whereas regular magnesium isn't absorbed enough to really be beneficial.

All the Magnesium you buy at the store is basically wasted. I take 2 scoops of Magtein daily. I used to get bad migraines and they didn't stop when I took the pills. When I started Magtein it literally cured me.

Check the youtube channel "Bob and Brad" they are physical therapists and they have tons of videos explaining back pain and giving dos and don'ts for exercises.

If anyone is taking ibuprofen for any length of time it will cause a rebound effect. The muscles start swelling causing excruciating pain. Nothing will help until you detox for 2 week. It should be taken off the market. So dont expect this to work if that is your situation

You need more details to know the dosage needed for supplements...

How much Magnesium do you need a day.. just sitting around watching TV ?

Approximately 500 mg..

So if your multi pill only has 50 mg.. you are kidding yourself.. They just put enough in to say it is there.


If you work in the heat and sun.. you need more.. as
Magnesium is Easy to Lose, but Hard to ABSORB.

How much of each type Magnesium is Absorbed per dose?

The Best Selling Magnesium is - Magnesium OXIDE .. because it is the CHEAPEST.. BUT YOU ONLY ABSORB 5% OF IT.


Do more research.. The Details Matter.. Don't Waste Your Money.

I'll share a few things I've discovered that will help improve your health.

The Western diet is very deficient in iodine and magnesium.

I used to have 20:550 eyesight. Could see close up, but walk 10 ft away and you were just fuzz. Then I hit 45 and lost my adaptive eyesight (the lens becomes rigid and unable to change focal point).

Started the iodine to try out a Polarpure water purifier to see how bad the taste was. Made a liter of water with it. Well, it tasted wonderful. So I made another liter of iodine water the next day. It was hot weather and it was so refreshing.

After 4 days of doing this, I noticed my brain fog lifted.
Polarpure method was a bit of a pain in the but, so I switched to Dr. Lugol's since that involved just putting a few drops into a glass of water. Then I noticed a zinging like pain in the front of my eye every so often. Apparantly that was the lens becoming mobile again. Now I can see up close perfectly, and also my distance vision has gotten way the heck better. The optometrist thought I must had lasik. The amt of iodine I take is roughly the equivalent of what the Japanese get in their seafood rich diet.
(The US RDA is far too low, and the iodine in salt is just enough to keep you from developing a goiter).

Iodine is water soluble and runs to the sea. Depleted inland areas are referred to as the "goiter belt".


The other nutrient we are short on is magnesium. This is vital to heart health. All I can say is take a supplement with the RDA for magnesium. I discovered this when I had a physical and the doc ran an EKG and told me my heart rhythm was screwed up.
Was getting PVCs etc.
I did a little reading and found that magnesium is essential for a healthy heart beat. Not enough in food unless you eat 10 lbs of meat a day. Started taking a supplement pill. went back to the doc and insisted he redo the EKG. Clean as a whistle, no more PVCs. And I could feel the improvement as well when I exercised.

Here is the pertinent info from 3 posts above in regard to your question:

I've been taking 250 mg Magnesium daily (in a complete mineral supplement, chelated form for enhanced absorption). The RDA is 400.

The Japanese diet is around 40 to 50 times more iodine than the US RDA. They have a much lower incidence of cancer and heart disease than the west, and have a slightly higher IQ on the whole.

I take 3 to 4 drops of Dr. Lugol's 2% iodine solution in a glass of water.

Iodine is well tolerated to pretty high levels.
The body excretes what it doesn't need.

By the way, the amounts of iodine I am talking about here are only about 1/50th the dosage you get from one of those "radiation pills".

Radiation dosage = 130 milligrams daily.

US RDA = 150 micrograms daily

Lugol's 2% solution contains 1 milligram of the element Iodine per drop.

The other point I would make with regard to iodine.

It is a halogen and competes for uptake in the body with the other halogens (Fluoride, chlorine and Bromine) in particular.

The US is one of the few if not the only country that chlorinates (and fluoridates) its drinking water.

That chlorine will compete with iodine for uptake into the body.

Same with Bromine, which is used as a "dough conditioner" in your bread.

There are different opinions out there on how much iodine should be eaten depending upon who you talk to.

I am of the opinion that the empirical evidence of Japan's markedly better brain and body health speaks for its self.

The US RDA for iodine is about 1/40th of what it should be.

And we should seriously look at removing chlorine and bromine from our diets.

Magnesium 400 grams daily (preferrably Glycinate, Taurate, or Threonate: which are the most absorbable)

Zinc 15 grams daily -bisglycinate form- (IMPORTANT: using zinc for a long amount of time depletes the copper in your body, so find a zinc tablet which INCLUDES the copper, or get it separately)

Taking these along with proper amounts of vitamin D and C an you'll be as tough as nails.

Note: Your body doesn't store vitamin C and zinc so you it'd be a lot better if you meet the daily requirements.

The plastic dropper starts to dry up before I finish the container then it's no good.

Yes, I simply ordered some cheap brown dropper bottles from amazon. It even comes with a tiny funnel.

Make sure the bottle is the right size. I think 2 oz is the right ones?

The other nutrient we are short on is magnesium. This is vital to heart health. All I can say is take a supplement with the RDA for magnesium. I discovered this when I had a physical and the doc ran an EKG and told me my heart rhythm was screwed up.
Was getting PVCs etc.
I did a little reading and found that magnesium is essential for a healthy heart beat. Not enough in food unless you eat 10 lbs of meat a day. Started taking a supplement pill. went back to the doc and insisted he redo the EKG. Clean as a whistle, no more PVCs. And I could feel the improvement as well when I exercised.

that is why I supplement both.. my blood levels were low... and in fact low magnesium is the leading cause of restless legs. and I have a screwy hear for which I also have to supplement potassium. I get pvcs when the level drops... Its a particular rhythm I call the "2- step". I get 2 normal bears followed by a PVC.. 2 more normal ones and then another PVC .. and if I continue to ignore such.. it gets worse.

Magnesium 400 grams daily (preferrably Glycinate, Taurate, or Threonate: which are the most absorbable)

Zinc 15 grams daily -bisglycinate form- (IMPORTANT: using zinc for a long amount of time depletes the copper in your body, so find a zinc tablet which INCLUDES the copper, or get it separately)

Taking these along with proper amounts of vitamin D and C an you'll be as tough as nails.

Note: Your body doesn't store vitamin C and zinc so you it'd be a lot better if you meet the daily requirements.

Thanks for your exellent points.
I started taking Copper Sebacate after reading about its importance in blood vessel health. Namely that it can prevent aneurysms, Ruptured blood vessels, varicose veins, even hemorrhoids.

I'll share a few things I've discovered that will help improve your health.

The Western diet is very deficient in iodine and magnesium.

I used to have 20:550 eyesight. Could see close up, but walk 10 ft away and you were just fuzz. Then I hit 45 and lost my adaptive eyesight (the lens becomes rigid and unable to change focal point).

Started the iodine to try out a Polarpure water purifier to see how bad the taste was. Made a liter of water with it. Well, it tasted wonderful. So I made another liter of iodine water the next day. It was hot weather and it was so refreshing.

After 4 days of doing this, I noticed my brain fog lifted.
Polarpure method was a bit of a pain in the but, so I switched to Dr. Lugol's since that involved just putting a few drops into a glass of water. Then I noticed a zinging like pain in the front of my eye every so often. Apparantly that was the lens becoming mobile again. Now I can see up close perfectly, and also my distance vision has gotten way the heck better. The optometrist thought I must had lasik. The amt of iodine I take is roughly the equivalent of what the Japanese get in their seafood rich diet.

I've been trying to inform GLP about Iodine for a couple years now ... I'm 55 and it helped Me ( more than any other supplement)... turn the corner to optimal health ... I lost 60lbs. after taking a bottle of Nascent Iodine ... I now weight 10 lbs. over what I did when I graduated High School ...
