Reading on the blood oxygen pulse reader thingy is 95. Usually it’s 98-99. Bad?

Re: Is a 95 on oximeter ok?
Do you take it often enough to know what your normal is?

95 isn't dangerous. If it goes below 90 though you'd want to start getting a bit more concerned

It is okay. But please don't go visit your parents even if you feel okay :) You need to keep them safe!

Below 90 is when it gets dangerous. Your orgons start getting deprived of oxygen. 95 is ok, but if you don't have asthma, COPD or something it is pretty low. Have you come into contact with someone with Covid19?

Breathe much more deeply into and out of your lungs for 10 minutes, then take the reading again and post the result here.

Yes, 2 coworkers are out sick with Covid, he coughed on me a lot day before saying his throat had this tickle he couldn’t get rid of.

Plus, I inhaled a bunch of straw dust and mushroom compost gardening yesterday that irritated my lungs. Perfect timing.

95 is fine.

If it drops below 92 though, it's time to seek emergency care

Everyone's SpO2 level will vary throughout the day depending on activity level, eating/drinking, etc.

Anything 93 or above is considered OK, but most of the time you should be 96 or above.

If you're cancelling a trip with your dad because your O2 level reads 95, you've got way bigger problems than oxygen.

Just sayin'.

Start to worry if you are consistently below the upper 80’s. 95 is fine.

Slightly low.... but then you need an average based on stating still and moving around.

Ok need to know why you are using one!!??

Oxiometers are a great way to monitor for `trends` over time. Do you think you mmay have a lung issue?
IF YOU HAVE A FEVER DO NOT LOWER IT WITH MEDS.... A FEVER IS AN IMMUNE SYSTEM RESPONSE TO A PATHOGEN (VIRUS, BACTERIA ETC..) IT MEANS YOUR IMMUNE SYSTEM IS WORKING PROPERLY....DONT USE DRUGS TO LOWER YOUR TEMP.

Breathe in thru your nose and out deeply thru your mouth several times a day whenever you think about it. Take a reading before and after. You will see a difference

Wife is a respiratory therapist

She said it is fine but keep an eye on it.

If it starts to go lower then think about seeking medical care.

How are you feeling other wise?

Re: Is a 95 on oximeter ok?
Mine had stayed between 95 and 99 since I started checking it a year or so ago. Had the flue, it was bad, lasted about two weeks. I dont think it was covid. But I damn sure wont be tested. Back to work, no symptoms, no fever. Weak as hell. I can get up to 94 or if I take things slow. But after a hard few hours I drop into the 80's
i dont pay attention to the world ending. it has ended for me many times and began again in the morning.

Hey Moonslice, 95 isn't bad but isn't good either.

I saw your other thread about being scared to be around your parents, you're probably fine but why don't you just wait a week before you go see them, just to be safe?

Also, have you tried putting the oximeter on a different finger? Mine gets different results depending on how far I got my finger in it and which finger I use.

It’s totally fine. It’s not a super accurate device and can’t be used as a diagnosis tool. If you wear nail polish, remove it first. Make sure your hands are warm. Take a couple of deep breaths. It’ll go up.

I used to repair Hospital Equipment. Make sure your hands are clean, otherwise you will get a low reading on the Pulse Oximeter...

95 is a good reading if you smoke and are older. Still it isn't too bad if you're a non-smoker...
