We were talking about when it was that potatoes came to Ireland not to "the world". That was around 500 years ago and an Englishman brought them. What language were the people in Ireland speaking before they decided to take on that of the Gaels who invaded? I know there are different takes on history but the Celts invaded perhaps 500BC and the language and culture changed after that according to the orthodox history.
