WWII on meth - true story! (They should make a movie out of this)

Synopsis: Finnish soldier, in charge of his company’s Meth supply (when Finland was allied with Germany) accidentally OD’s on a crap ton of meth. Then has bizarre adventure after separating from his unit. This is a true story...

...and it’s pretty damn funny!

chuckle

Enjoy!

PS: I think this is a big-screen movie potential story.

This OP vid focuses on one soldier’s personal story. And as harrowing as it is, the narrator and drawings make it a delightful dark comedy.

I genuinely LOL’d through parts of it.

Re: WWII on meth - true story! (They should make a movie out of this)
(OP) thanks for your thread. But the meth story in WWII is WAY bigger than this particular situation.

I first learned of meth use by U.S. Airborne Troops when I read the book, "A Bridge Too Far" by Cornelius Ryan. He also wrote the book, "The Longest Day". Both books are true stories, and were made into very famous Hollywood movies.

However, as we all know, a book is usually much better, and more detailed than a movie. And that's why reading is so important. But, I admit, I do love well made films.

The Airborne Troops who were dropped behind enemy lines in 'Operation Market Garden' (A Bridge Too Far) were issued amphetamine pills to stay awake and keep alert; think Adderall. Now Adderall is not exactly meth, but similar in many ways. However, when the enemy has you surrounded, and if you go to sleep, for even a few minutes, you die...well, that's what the Amps are for.

The U.S. also gave amphetamine style drugs to pilots, but it was not common practice. For Para-Troopers dropping behind enemy lines, which we did rarely, it was issued.

But in the film "A Bridge Too Far" it is NEVER mentioned. That could be because the film was made back in 1977. And "The Longest Day" was made in 1962. Maybe today it would get mentioned in a film, but I doubt it.

The Germans...they were often on meth, the real hard core crazy shit, because that's what they had. And it did make them into meth head freaks sometimes. This is the little known history of WWII you will only find in books!

Thanks OP, love to hear what you think!

Truth, all.

My father was an Air Force officer when they built the Berlin Wall, and he was stationed on an Air Force base in France. Amphetamines were regularly issued to officers and enlisted personnel. There were lots of alerts during that time, and they'd often have to be up and alert around the clock.

The two names you mentioned in order refer to Dextroamphetamine and Amphetamine. While each side may have been using different forms of Amphetamines in their concoctions during WW2 the Germans were the ones most notorious for having actual Methamphetamine as an ingredient. And the quality/strength was likely way better than what modern Meth is today on the streets...

I've had many experiences with stimulants but thank God I was never foolish enough to do that much at once like this guy smh. That's basically what would happen though especially with one that last as long as Meth does. Longest I was ever in a state similar to the one described in this video was a couple of days from using a Cathinone in excess that lasted no where near as long as Meth thankfully...

I guess the real fact here is, the US issued an amphetamine, which is NOT meth. In fact, our doctors today are handing out Adderall like it's candy to our kids. For ADD/ADHD it really does work. For a college student, who does not "need" this stuff, they will pay a handsome price to get their hands on some around exam time.

The Germans had so much of their industry destroyed, they lost the ability to make quality, pharmaceutical grade drugs. Therefore, they ended up with something very similar to what we'd call meth. And meth is obviously some really fucked up shit.

But on the Russian Front, the Germans really needed something to give them an EXTRA kick. This is where their meth use really skyrocketed. It's not they they wanted to be high on a drug like that, they simply needed something, because a soldier high on drugs is not a good soldier.

However, there is some question in history about the SS using meth, just because they were already some crazy, fucked up dudes. Were concentration camp guards high on meth, just because they liked it? I don't know, the available info is very iffy at best. But we do know for certain the SS were into some very dark shit, like Black Magic, and Rituals, and just weird shit.

What many people who do not understand WWII think is; that ALL German soldiers were Nazis. And that is far from true. German soldiers were just like any other soldier, fighting for their nation, to survive, and probably drafted into service. They were also pissed about the outcome of WWI, and they were pissed at a certain group within their country who has been kicked out of over 100 nations over the past 2000 years. Plenty of evidence to prove this "tribe" of people are far from innocent. But that is another story (This post will probably get deleted now, and I'll get an Abusive Post hit...oh well, I didn't say anything untrue).

As for the REAL NAZIS, they were without a doubt seriously twisted people who were evil to their rotten core. Most Nazis were SS, but they existed in many units. The German Secret Police (Gestapo) were mostly Nazis. Bad dudes. I'd be really concerned if I had to go up against those assholes in battle...they might be loaded up on meth!

As for me...if I had to go into extended combat, I'd have no problem taking Adderall to stay alert. It's really just a better form of coffee. But meth (and I've never done meth) I've seen a few people on meth before, and they are FREAKS on that shit. Scary!

Okay, I'd love to hear what you guys have to say!

By-the-way, I'm happy to hand out GREEN KARMA for any well written comments, and I could use some too!

Hey (OP) Tennessee Patriot,

Normally, I'd send you a PM, but I "lost" my full member status recently, and that SUCKS! I try to acquire the 100 GREEN a month for upgrade, but I guess I didn't earn enough (I need to work harder!)

Of course I could pay for a membership, but money (even 12 bucks right now) is tight.

So, I lose my Avatar picture, and access to ALL my memes/Smilies, until I re-up. And then, as soon as my account expired, I got caught in an i.p ban (or maybe I got targeted on purpose) so I cashed in 25 GREEN for Immunity from Bans for one month.

So...what I was going to say is, I added you to my Buddy List, because you seem like a cool guy. Right now, I cannot send a PM, so I hope you don't mind this post, even though it is off target from the topic.

But, in a way, maybe this helpful to anyone who reads this. GLP membership has certain benefits, and with some effort can be maintained for free.

Let's all work together, to keep quality threads coming, and interesting comments. We all need a break from COVID and POLITICS!

My Father said the U.S. Army fought across Europe

Drunk ! (World War II)

Not exactly true...but close.

Men under extreme pressure will attempt to relieve

the stress.

The men had to appear in control of themselves or they

would have jobs that no one in their right mind would do.

Back to the subject...

dexadrine or benzadrine-The Germans did provide it for

their troops in combat.

U.S. military pilots have in the past, had available

"medications"

to keep them awake on long distance flights where there

was just one pilot.

When they would fly from the USA to Europe there would

be medics to haul them out of their planes and put them

on stretchers and then to the hospital to recover from

exhaustion and the "meds".

It was common in the 50's and 60's- I believe it was

Elvis Presley's Sergeant that got him hooked on speed of

some kind...while he was in Germany.

Bad stuff-Brain killers.(although like Elvis many can appear

"normal" for many years)
