FCC regulations regarding broadcasting of distorted news
From the FCC website.

Hoaxes. The broadcast by a station of false information concerning a crime or catastrophe violates the FCC's rules if:

The station licensee knew that the information was false;
Broadcasting the false information directly causes substantial public harm; and
It was foreseeable that broadcasting the false information would cause such harm.
In this context, a “crime” is an act or omission that makes the offender subject to criminal punishment by law, and a “catastrophe” is a disaster or an imminent disaster involving violent or sudden events affecting the public. The broadcast must cause direct and actual damage to property or to the health or safety of the general public, or diversion of law enforcement or other public health and safety authorities from their duties, and the public harm must begin immediately. If a station airs a disclaimer before the broadcast that clearly characterizes the program as fiction and the disclaimer is presented in a reasonable manner under the circumstances, the program is presumed not to pose foreseeable public harm.

News Distortion. The Commission often receives complaints concerning broadcast journalism, such as allegations that stations have aired inaccurate or one-sided news reports or comments, covered stories inadequately, or overly dramatized the events that they cover. For the reasons noted previously, the Commission generally will not intervene in these cases because it would be inconsistent with the First Amendment to replace the journalistic judgment of licensees with our own. However, as public trustees, broadcast licensees may not intentionally distort the news. The FCC has stated that “rigging or slanting the news is a most heinous act against the public interest.” The Commission will investigate a station for news distortion if it receives documented evidence of rigging or slanting, such as testimony or other documentation, from individuals with direct personal knowledge that a licensee or its management engaged in the intentional falsification of the news. Of particular concern would be evidence of the direction to employees from station management to falsify the news. However, absent such a compelling showing, the Commission will not intervene.

Re: FCC regulations regarding broadcasting of distorted news
They are guilty as hell. Now how are we going to rebuild the media with the confiscated funds? How do we the people want to run things, what do we want to see happen? Do we let some of them keep their jobs and do it right this time, or try to find all new people to fill the positions? There are going to be a lot of empty positions.

We should start figuring out how to make the transition.

How do you think it should be run better?

I think there should be many independent sources and reporters. Not all of them repeating the same script at the same time. No more than one station for each independent organization. No more monopoly.

Interesting how the FCC actually has news distortion listed as a sub set of hoaxes.

Also sounds like a disgruntled CNN employee willing to tell the truth regarding planned/deliberate dissemination of false narratives would result in some sort of enforcement effort but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Seriously think the media needs to be dealt with, they are clearly trying to influence and encourage a large group of uneducated individuals to perform illegal acts.

The media knows that those leaning left prefer emotion over facts and they are taking advantage of those weak minds.

Next time they deliver a narrative where the desired outcome is civil unrest from their viewers we need to take a shot at proving that they have violated the news distortion regulation.

Ehhh, whatever, it's just tiring but the ass clowns really need to be held to account.

Does anyone else read this part as a request. Almost like, hey, we want to pull their licenses, please bring us something that we could view as being direction from station management. I almost want to tour CNN and check out what's in the trash cans.

Thank you, I remember hearing that years ago but had forgotten. Cable is basically the wild wild west isn't it? No regulations or regulatory agency.

I do wonder if there is any viable approach to pursue a "false advertising" suit.

1. I pay my cable company for various channels with each channel fitting into a category (i.e. sports, news, comedy, etc.)
2. One of the channels is CNN which is categorized as news
3. CNN does NOT provide news, they provide opinion or could be viewed as an activist channel supporting left wing ideals.

Doubt it would fly, not sure you could show how you were damaged.

The only solution would be to boycott their advertisers but that rarely works.

In the end, I really don't care but as President Trump said, they truly are the enemy of the people.

Pretty dramatic stuff when Tucker Carlson has to call out the Presidents Campaign Legal Defense lawyer on his show and say present proof or GTFO

Apparently she took his advice. There's hope for her yet.

She can testify against those sdeitious SoBs and then write a book. Lord knows everybody else has to salve their wounds and mend their soiled spirit working for that piece of dirt.
