People are losing fear of the scamdemic. Good to hear but it still comes down to government control. And that means no public venues for bands right now. And Trump is looking pretty weak. |

Websites like reverb have changed the game when it comes to buying new and used gear and allowed small mom and pop vendors to sell to all over the world. Sure, the music industry has killed off rock n roll but people are still buying guitars now more than ever. I thought this virus would cause a glut of used cheap gear to hit the market but I was wrong, more people are bored at home and are buying guitars like they are going out of style. Used vintage guitars have never been more valuable |
Leverlock User ID: 79207923 United States 11/22/2020 09:31 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Guitar Center used cut throat tactics to drive their large competitors (like Mars) out of business as well as undercut all the local mom and pop music stores forcing many to close. Renting brass instruments to schools is the only thing that kept 2 of the independent local shops going. Guitar Center has been in bankruptcy for many years and have ruined many small companies because of it. This new bankruptcy filing has the potential to ruin many large companies. They will continue to operate after fucking their debtors. They will not be offering any (deals). post script: Gibson and Fender suck. Low hanging fruit. Instruments for the unwashed masses. The proles. They pioneered many innovations in the 50's and 60's but they have sold out to poor quality and unwarranted prices. Bolt on necks and glued in necks are for the novice. Sell them all and buy one good neck-thru. FACT: Slash plays Gibson Les Pauls. Gibson gives him free guitars and pays him to do so. He uses that money to buy other brands, haha. . Nothing in this life that I've been trying can equal or surpass the art of dying. |

I've been playing 12 string acoustic most of my life, but when I was buying my first Les Paul, on the recommendation of a pro, I opted for the Epiphone Classic over the Gibson. Every bit of the guitar for half the money is what he said. So far, so good. |

So, sorry to hear that but I like small shops anyways as opposed to chain store style. Either way, with or without GC guitar and rock music will survive. Not anutter cig nature. |
Beyond User ID: 72715753 United States 11/30/2020 01:11 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I dont own a guitar or bass right now but when I finally do purchase a new one, probably a few more years down the road, I decided to go with Gibson. I want an acoustic bass don't know what brand yet, maybe buy a home made one of a kind. Not anutter cig nature. |
Beyond User ID: 72715753 United States 11/30/2020 01:14 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I know this guy who never played a public show and hasn't played in years either. People actually threatened his life for not wasting his money on a new guitar, trouble is he has nowhere safe to store it even if he wanted one. He told me that I guess the logic is that when he first learned to play guitar they didn't tell him that learning how to play would someday endanger his life so he said if he knew that he wouldn't have learned to play at all. Funny story, true. Maybe they should put a warning sticker on the guitars that says, "Learning how to play this thing may endanger your life." I thought it was a way to pass the time and entertain yourself and others. Guess I was wrong. I wonder what they say to him, something like, "Entertain us or we'll kill you!!!" Sounds nuts. If they really want him to play that badly maybe they should offer him money and not threaten his life. You know, use motivation not terrorism. I am sort of indifferent about this. CG is convenient and caters to a particular type of consumer. Most musicians with similar mindsets to me prefer the small shops. Whatever. I'm not against them but not all that excited about them either. Not anutter cig nature. |
