I've been putting drops of Oil of Oregano into my ear. It helps for about 3-4 days but then the itch comes back. Normally during the day I don't notice it but at night time when I go to bed and relax and unwind it becomes unbearable sometimes. I may try your solution. |

It also has tea tree oil in it. It's hard to get the drops deep in there so I soak the tip of a qtip and apply it that way. Like you OP, I had little success with hydrocortisone. |

Put some medica tape over it so it doesnt fall out. leave some space for air to move in and out... and for hearing. also works if you have cold symptoms ~Hic Manebimus Optime~ |

After researching the subject further I have come to the conclusion that the itchiness is due to: wait for it.... Overcleaning, by cleaning your ear canals too often, the protective wax which is antibacterial is therefore removed and leaves it unprotected and vulnerable to infection. I know it's hard to not clean them everyday, but try it, it works. 5 stars And when he gets to Heaven, to Saint Peter he will tell: "Just another soldier reporting, Sir. Ive served my time in Hell" |

OP here on a different IP. Of course Q-tips are bad. I have also used a sharp pencil and a small iron file. Anything to damage the skin. Pain was always preferable to the itch. I read earlier on GLP about hydrogen peroxide and tried it. Didn't help. |
