I saw a post from my cousin this week. It was a post of her hand with a pill in it and then she linked to an article about anxiety and depression.

In the early 2000s my sister had a mental breakdown. She ended up having to move back in with my parents and it took her about 2 years to recover. Her doctor had her on all kinds of meds. She was a zombie. At one point, he told her she'd be on them the rest of her life, and that's when I got my sister back. She refused to be on meds forever and was tired of feeling nothing. She has never been on meds since, and my family has gone through absolute hell the past few years.

My sister never talked about any of this back when it happened and has only talked to me a few times about little bits and pieces. It's not something she's ever advertised.

I work with women just like my cousin. To them, it's a badge of honour for some reason...and most of them have no clue what real depression is. Doctors clearly hand out meds like candy when a lot of people don't even need them.

And yes, some people really do need meds, but they are not the ones posting like my cousin. She also had another post a couple of weeks ago about her kid and ADHD...as if she's the only parent on the planet with a child who has ADHD. It's the constant victim mentality that pisses me off.

The simultaneous rise of women in power and the ascension of emotion-driven groupthink is not coincidental.

As long as things are pretty good, women in power is an okay thing. Society can absorb the overall tendency towards poor,
emotional decision-making.

It's when shit really hits the fan that their leadership weakness is generally exposed.

To be clear, there are many very good women leaders, just as there are many very poor male leaders. The issue is that the two bell curves of the population distributions do not have the same mean. On average, over the long-term, men make better decisions.

A smart society would elevate great female leaders while acknowledging they will be in the minority.

Women crave attention. That's it. They get endless male attention from 16-26 and that becomes the norm for them. It's short lived and then they lose it when they become invisible.
