I've Never Owned A Gun. What Is The Best Gun To Buy, Just For Self Defense? | |
Apollonius User ID: 78234183 United States 12/03/2020 06:06 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | When someone says that one gun shoots better than another I am assuming that that person is able to shoot a particular gun better than another one . One of the most common range officer jokes is when new shooters bring their new pistols to them and tell them that it is shooting low and left when they are right-handed and low and right when they are left-handed. it is all about trigger control and site acquisition. Quoting: Apollonius 78234183 Then I guess you've never fired a factory new Beretta 9mm? The most comically inaccurate handgun I've ever fired :) they are just different platforms my friend and I know people who can shoot them both equally well. I personally choose the 1911 I have medium sized hands I love these single action trigger pull and the single stack grip. You are certainly correct in that many many guns are inaccurate from the factory period but the overwhelming majority of missing the target is to be blamed on poor trigger control and poor side acquisition and a poor grip. A Beretta will out shoot a plastic piece of shit every time. If you're shooting bigger groups with a Beretta than a Glock, you suck ass. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 78234183 United States 12/03/2020 06:10 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The Beretta 92 was a notoriously hard pistol to learn to shoot it has a initial double action shot followed up by single action shots with plenty of creep and over travel. The Glock does have a consistent double action trigger pull every time. I've already stated that I'm a 1911 fan but I can take an objective viewpoint on the Beretta and the Glock and the 1911 can't all the calibers and manufacturers just get along? |

It was a response to your statement and is true. I seriously doubt it has the muzzle energy of a .44 Magnum or a 500 smith and Wesson. If it does what is the advantage? If you get shot with an antiaircraft gun you will be no more dead than if you are shot with a .44 magnum. In other words an impractical , expensive toy for people with more money than brains and a strong urge to show off. A dick extension, like a jacked up truck. well it's true the muzzle fireball from a .50AE is a definite pose. the noise is not and in a confined space? ouch, probably deaf for several seconds after just one shot. not the most practical. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 79699870 United States 12/03/2020 06:25 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Right now get a gun that will have ammo available. That’s most likely a 9mm. Glock or Smith & Wesson is all you need. Quoting: 4Trump LMAO. 9 mm? That's one of the calibers with ZERO ammo in stores. You can get it online, at expensive prices. There are a lot of other calibers that actually have ammo in store, from .38 and .32 to .45 in pistol calibers, 45-70, 7.62 mm, etc in rifle. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 79649168 The government exploded in size under Bush Jr. and under Trump there were literally plainclothes government thugs kidnapping people off my street. Evidence for plainclothes thugs. Do you mean violent rioters being arrested? Because, you know, they are doing illegal violent activities. Of course the Republican Party also likes big gov: big military, etc. However, Trump has been stopping the endless wars. Doesn't that matter to you? I have protested those wars under BOTH Bush and Obama. Also, it's the left currently trying to censor and deplatform all opposition, restrict gun rights, open borders, lock down states and cities for Covid, etc. Do you realize that? Right now, the left is being more insane. A lot of old school liberals and moderates are finding ourselves in a new, bizarre space, where the Republicans/conservatives are less insane than the Democrats. LOL. |

Quoting: President Elect Splinterhead72 Easy on the truck .you sound like a city slicker soy boy that hasn't spent much time in the woods. Jacking a truck does not increase any part of the performance of it. it just makes it more unstable and burn more gas. The ground clearance is generally limited by the rear differential, and it's height does not change by jacking the suspension. Its a TOTALLY USELESS modification done by idiots with tiny peckers and brains to match it. Lifting a truck allows the installation of taller tires, which increases ground clearance. Even Stevie Wonder can see that. You are the missing link. Goodbye. And what effect does installing larger tires have on it's performance, and final drive ratio? You might get a few inches of ground clearance and for what? A useless, dangerous gas hog it looks cool though and you can see up women's short skirts at red lights |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77912488 As a follow up, can find ammo for any caliber almost on ammoseek.com. Look at this though, .380 is $0.90 a round and up... [link to ammoseek.com (secure)] 9 mm is currently about $0.57 a round on there. Good luck finding either in most gun stores. |

Obviously probably a compact, but whateves. Lots of very good used guns in the $4-500 range too. New S&W M&P going for $599 in my gun store. Not the shield, the compacts and full size. There are glocks there too for the same price. And some that are more. |
