I remember this from last July. She was working for the NIH I think, and got fired for raising the numbers in the NIH computer and using her own software to do it. She's involved with CNN somehow.

My guess would be that the media liked her numbers better. Good for the news biz, and more than likely using HER numbers for their covid reporting instead of the NIH numbers, but that's just speculation.
