Zombie Attack at Hierakonpolis

In olden times.... many people were buried alive. It was because they were thought to be dead, when in fact they may have been in a coma. NOt having the facilities we have today to see if someone has brain function, unfortunates awoke in caskets 6 feet under.

Upon observing that people had tried to claw their way out of the caskets ( digs or grave robbers, etc), the establishment started embalming. Thus if the person were not dead... he would be after being embalmed. This was the actual reason for embalming. To prevent living persons being buried alive.

Today.. emabalming is optional, since it can pretty much be determined if someone is dead. However embalming may help for a long wake.

But you know.. the cure for a real Zombie is to put salt in its mouth and sew it shut. :)

aim for the head. Its the only cure.

In olden times...in England, a bell was sometimes placed above the grave with a string attached that led down into the newly buried coffin. If the 'deceased' woke-up, he/she could pull the string to alert anyone nearby - hence the phrase 'Saved by the bell'. (It has nothing to do with boxing, as I had once thought.)
