Oh shit yeah.. You still wanna pay your property taxes and keep homeowners insurance up. MAYBE even the county is helping people by putting off or delaying tax payments, but I would not count on it.

Well (AC) after your comment, I thought that might not be a bad idea. So, I checked her post history and profile.

This is what I found:

She first registered on GLP in 2013! That is a significant amount of time. She also has a history of posting threads, and has a GLP Friends List. These are ALL signs of an authentic GLP member, and not someone who created an account yesterday.

I don't care what she has to say (although I did quickly check her posts) the fact is, she is a REAL MEMBER of GLP. And simply for that fact, she DESERVES the respect we give to members (unless they are a total asshole...and that happens on rare occasion.) However, GLP member assholes also seem to pride themselves on having RED karma and not GREEN. Some people just prefer the color RED over GREEN.

But this is NOT the case with the (OP). She is honestly asking for advice and help...in my opinion.

Also, in my opinion, an Anonymous Coward, who hides behind that cover, truly is a fucking coward; especially when they ATTACK an ACTUAL GLP member.

I don't have specific advice advice, OP, but wanted to at least say I hear you, and I hope you find some relief.

Maybe some of the advice here so far can help. None of it is going to be easy, but you gotta do what you gotta do.

I'm not going to blow smoke and say, "It will get better, hang in there!" But honestly, I don't know what to say that could help, other than -- I'm sorry.

I'm self-employed and have suffered greatly through all of this too. Not the same details as yours, but bad in its own way. I don't know how much more I can take of just... everything.

If I hear one more person say, "We're all in this together," I'm going to scream. We all have our personal hells right now, and it's a lonely place to be.

Just know that there are some people out here who hear you and feel sad for you. You are probably feeling very alone, right? I know that feeling.

You may want to call Dave Ramsey . He recommends the four walls , food , shelter , utilities and transportation , in that order . Do not pay the credit card bills . Maybe you can rent a room in your house to generate income ?

Did you talk to your lender/bank? I called mine and said “I am in financial distress due to COVID” and they guy goes “ok, let’s defer you” So he deferred me for 6 months, no penalties. Make sure they don’t want you to pay it back in a lump sum at the end of deferments, some banks do that. Mine let me tack it on to the end of the mortgage. Took all of two minutes. I was like that’s it? And he says yes, that’s it. It was the easiest, shortest financial phone call I ever made.

Talk to your mortage banker to defer your payment, they cant force you to sell at least for now.

Do some math on your liability vs asset, if its just too hard to serve your debt even u got your job back, consider declare bankruptcy.

Apply for section 8 housing, afforable housing

Apply for the free benefit, food stamps.....

Having been through OPs situation in 2009-2011, I would reccomend the following:

1st once the foreclosure is filed, file bankruptcy to slow everything down with the banks. Just because you file doesn't mean you have to go through with it, but it will give you at least a 6 month delay.

When you are served the foreclosure, make sure you file a response to the court mailed certified/return receipt and a copy to plaintiffs law firm.

Also look for lawyers associations that help with foreclosures case pro-bono. When a bank sees a contested foreclosure and a bankruptcy filing, they usually are much more willing to make a deal.



2nd, talk with Florida Department of Children and Families. They help with food and electric bills.

The better option if the loan is owned by Freddie or Fannie would be the 12 month deferment.

call your bank while the scamdemic is still being perpetrated. They have a lot of covid related programs.

Not a hell of a lot of manufacturing jobs in Florida.. unfortunately our state is a service sector economy..and a lot more people are teetering on OPs situation..
Other advice is spot on.cut to bare bones necessities..and OP..if you have a vehicle..the door dash/ubereat/grubhub tPe stuff is a quick way to pick up a few extra bucks to try and keep above water temporarily..good luck

But "if" not a FHA mortgage, filing a court response/contesting the foreclosure and bankruptcy are options that will help regardless of the type of loan.

Bankruptcy is an across the board option that includes credit cards or any other type of loan like a car loan too. Again, filing bankruptcy does not mean going through with, but it does slow things down and give OP time to recover.

In the situation OP's in, go with what works, use all available.

Careful on the PPP loans they are not doing total forgiveness.

I know this is true.

Florida is a recourse state.

After the foreclosure, the banks will sit and wait about 18 months for people to get back on their feet, then go after them for any remaining balance not obtained from the sale of the property.
