Your own quote indicates it's just the ATF "deeming" things illegal, it has nothing to do with passing any new laws. The ATF can deem what the fuck it wants a firearm and you'll just lay down and take it. An 80% lower is not a firearm, it isn't finished, nor is finishing an 80% lower illegal for personal use. If the ATF wants to "deem" me a criminal because I own 80% lowers they can go fuck themselves, the constitution doesn't recognize the ability of the ATF to create law by decree which is exactly what they try to do.

If you think there's some grand conspiracy by this company to arm Chinese soldiers in the US then prosecute them for aiding and abetting or treason, 80% lowers themselves are not illegal unless your local jurisdiction bans them (which in turn has nothing to do with the ATF or any other federal agency).

According to a press release issued by District of Columbia Attorney General Karl A. Racine in June of 2020, a lawsuit was filed against Polymer80 for selling what are described as “ghost guns.”

Ghost guns are illegal firearms that are untraceable and unmarked, according to the lawsuit.

Polymer 80's are not cheap guns and they use Glock parts for all the inner workings. If done carefully they are quote good. Obviously I would rather have a factory assembled firearm that I spend a lot of time shooting and cleaning so I know it's reliability, but you could do the same with the 80% models.

If they were raided and gave up their sales records than that is a whole other matter.

And let me make something very clear to all of you who seem to be defending this, it won't end here. If an incomplete piece of plastic can be designated as a firearm because it comes with tools that allow you to finish it into a functioning lower (you still have to provide your own trigger, barrel, slide etc) then the government can simply deem your 3D printer illegal and come after you for attempting to manufacture firearms if they think for a moment that you might 3D print a plastic lower. Or if you prefer, they can come after you for buying a CNC machine if they think you're going to use it to construct your own metal lower.

We are talking about criminalizing the purchase of incomplete parts that could theoretically be used to make a firearm. and let me make clear, there's nothing illegal about making your own firearm for personal use. If you are making it to sell it that is another matter. If you buy a 80% lower, you have the ability to make a quantity of one gun if you finish it. Doesn't exactly provide strong evidence that you intend to become a black market firearms salesman. But that isn't stopping them, so just imagine the fury they can come after you with if they can show that you watched any videos about how to 3D print a lower and then you went out and bought a 3D printer or other machinery. Those are the keys to printing lots of firearms, not just finishing one incomplete lower for personal use.

They are right now setting up the precedent that you can be accused of a crime simply for having the ability to make a gun, just for having the parts in hand that can do it. does that mean I think they're going to go door-to-door raiding people who bought 3D printers? No of course not, but what if they wanted to get you for other reasons and couldn't make anything stick? Now they have a new avenue to try.

Let's say one night your house gets broken into by a good boy who was going to go to college and was just wearing a hoodie and you shot them in self defense. Let's say this good boy was unarmed but legally you had every right to shoot them for breaking into your house in the middle of the night under castle doctrine. Now let's say that BLM is starting up protests in your town because you shot this good little unarmed boy. If the prosecutor can't make a murder charge stick, maybe they'll try to get you on something else like having the parts needed to make a firearm and a YouTube watch history that shows you have been looking at videos on how to 3D print a lower. Maybe you even went online and downloaded the object files to do so. Even if you've never hit the print button on that, this is the kind of precedent that they can use to get you for having the ability to do it. And if you stick out for any reason and the state needs to make an example of you, this is the kind of bullshit thing they can use, even if you haven't actually broken the law.
