I like to listen to the oldie country music channel. Back when country music was great. RIP Charlie. Thank you for sharing your talent with the world. I watched his story on PBS when they did a documentary on oldie country music. It was very interesting. I highly recommend folks watch if they admire country music. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 79748446 Canada 12/12/2020 04:23 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I don’t believe he died from covid! The media is trying to sensationalize the covid nonsense. He was 86! 86 is well over life expectancy for everyone! And no disrespect. My dad died at age 81 and my aunt at age 83 three months apart from each other from flu complications back in 2016 . Then my uncle 85 a year later in 2017 of old age complications. People die from just about anything at those age ranges. Its just a fact of life. People die from much less even earlier and it can usually be attributed to being at the end of your life. Now everything is labeled covid by the corrupted conspirators and deep state for open communism. |

He seemed so genuine and I believe he was. I love the oldie country music channels too, especially when they give you tidbits on the singers. COUNTRY Charlie Pride was his name. They were careful about bringing out the first black guy. |

Vision Thing User ID: 79559413 United States 12/12/2020 06:00 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | RIP CHARLEY! His story is so interesting and worth looking into. He was very far ahead of his time. He never wanted to dwell on racial issues, I've seen interviews where he was so frustrated with the interviewer who only wanted to talk about racism and how oppressed he must feel, and wouldn't listen to him when he said he just wanted to talk about the music and other subjects. He originally wanted to be a professional baseball player. He lived in Montana for several years when he was young. He had trouble breaking into the big leagues in baseball and ended up a country singer instead - most people would be very glad that is the way events turned out. Charley Pride sold more records for his label than anyone else but Elvis. I really think we could learn from his career and his attitude. He never took no for an answer, he just kept going til he got what he wanted. I think sometimes that TPTB don't like his story, because it's not a victim story, it's not a story of oppression, it pretty much proves that if you work hard and get good at something and put yourself forward and are brave and keep going and don't let setbacks defeat you, you can do great things. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 77554547 United States 12/12/2020 06:07 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It's sad he died, but at 86 he had a nice long ride. I hate that he will now go down as just another COVID statistic. Quoting: GA Girl Go look at his Facebook page, even on December 8, 2020, he was at home and signing books and albums for autographs. There is a short video of him speaking. He was well and healthy, not acting his age at all. Don't just someone by an age number. He is a shock and a loss that he is gone, because he still had so many songs and talent to share with the world. |
