Louis in Richmond That is my arm now; broken for 7 months User ID: 74734261 United States 09/17/2022 06:56 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Dinner is corned beef hash with added onions and peppers. Quoting: Louis in Richmond Since I have forgotten how to cook corned beef and have had to discard over $120 worth since January behind ruining it every time I try to cook it, this is the only way I can enjoy it now and it sucks since its chopped up with potatoes, but it is the only way to get the corned beef taste even though it lacks the proper texture or ability to slice it for a sandwich. I need to find a deli or someone that will cook about ten pounds of corned beef for me so I may make sandwiches with it. Even $200 to $300 would be a reasonable price to pay them for it since I can no longer cook it myself. Desperation to have properly cooked meat makes no price too high and I am serious. I found some online, but alas, in Canada. I'm sure you can find a place closer to home. [link to www.wisermeats.com (secure)] Thanks Lance. I realize since I am no longer capable of cooking a simple piece of beef, there is no way I can possibly cook fried rice with its numerous ingredients and the necessity of cooking them in a wok or fry pan with water and oil simultaneously with and the add-in vegetables with proper attention paid to maintaining it. I am having an envelope of Lipton soup that I only need to add boiling water to for my only meal of this weekend. I am serious that I would be grateful and happy to pay someone a few hundred dollars to cook some corned beef for me since I have not had it in eleven months. It is my favorite food and would eat it every day if only it was available to me. I had a ten thousand dollar raise this year and every penny of it would go to someone if they would cook for me since I can no longer do it myself. Mrs. is incapable of cooking anything and is the only person I have ever encountered that can burn water if she tries to boil it. She begins to vomit wildly if she smells corned beef or cabbage cooking. I know she is forcing herself to do it because it is the most heavenly smelling food on Earth. If they made cologne or aftershave that smelled like it I would thoroughly douse myself with it because it smells so wonderful. My childhood and teenage dream was to open my own restaurant and create the most incredible meals. I have won every cooking contest I used to enter and now cannot cook anything. Breakfast today was sausage and potatoes. It had to go directly into the trash. It was too spicy, burned, and was wet. I have no idea how that happened so I have eaten nothing since yesterday. A proper meal is so very important to one's mental health and wellbeing. I can no longer walk, I cannot drive, and have forgotten how to cook. If only there was a many-years registered GLP member so I knew I could trust them that lived near me that knew how to cook. I would pay their car payments for them each month if they came by and cooked me a dinner twice a week. This is truly that bad and life-disrupting to me. I would kill myself tonight if I didn't have a wife and two cats to take care of. I'll stay off of here the rest of the weekend and perhaps for a long time again. It is too depressing to me to see and read about such incredible meals everyone can make when all I can do is add boiling water to instant soup. I wish I were dead. Until your military service has required you neutralize enemy combatants and invaders in the defense of your country, don't presume to tell us that have defended you that you don't support every shot we fired to eliminate that enemy. |

Louis, I understand your forgetting how to cook. All the years Mr. TB managed hotels, we ate out almost every night. I can't tell you how much food I've ruined the last 2 years, trying to make things I've made my whole life. I'm getting better again, but sometimes, it's still a crapshoot! There are times I want to shoot the crap I've cooked! If your local area still does their own cooked food for mobile meals, I would look into it. We used to do them from the nursing home kitchen I worked at. We almost always had pretty good food and followed any special diets our clients had. Unfortunately, I don't know that anyone still does it that way. You'd have to do some homework. In our area, it's just frozen meals these days. Not good. |

The times around the Equinoxes are the most, um, 'trying'. The balance of light and dark (for those of us who experience it). Anyhow. I'm wondering if anyone has ever done a stuffed pumpkin dish? I've been looking online but thought maybe one of you have a memory of such a thing. We are going to watch the Queens funeral (for educational purposes), then cut the cable cord altogether (2+ years and the cable tv has never been used). Following that, we are going to do 3 days of the LOTR extended. So...looking for 'hobbit/elvish type' tapas ideas. We have a large 'ploughmans lunch' planned for the queen thing. All day snacking. So for the LOTR, cottage pie of course, plus some sort of ho-made seed cakes, apple tarts and French onion soup. We need far more ideas. ANy great tapas/appy's ideas that would fit in, at a Tolkeinesque Inn? Soulless fake humans are already AI. When you have cooked off most of the liquid released by the mushrooms, add about 1/2 c. of cream and simmer until it thickens, then stir in 1/3 c of grated parmesan and a big handful of chopped parsley. Salt and pepper generously then stuff into the caps. Put a pinch of shredded swiss or cheddar on top of each one and bake in oven at 350 for ~30 minutes. (keto friendly Simple) |
