I don't know how I have missed Quoting: Trained Noticer this thread, but I enjoyed scanning recent posts just now! Best wishes to all of you folks having health issues. Prayers for each of you. Horses are fed and turned out, so now my turn. Benton's bacon in the pan! :bf56: This thread is a stop over for me from time to time. I lurk every now and then and try to keep caught up, but there are only so many things I can read at once. Good peeps in here, we are all in this struggle together. Hi all. :hello: |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 81150174 United States 11/20/2021 07:01 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | For tonight I put in a roaster -- whole young chicken -- using my cast iron skillet. Got the biggest skillet I could find, it's huge! Can cook 8 slices of bacon at once in that thing. Quoting: FlockOfSmeagols Used the Holy Trinity, stuffed it with a lemon, fresh rosemary, thyme, parsley, and the most important sage. Greased up the skin so s&p, dried ground rosemary and coriander would stick on it. I do like 450 F to start for 15 minutes to get the skin to start crisping up, then go down to 325 F for oh, depending, 2.5 - 3 hours. I like checking doneness by if a drumstick pulls right off, that thing is ready! Always make homemade gravy when I have gravy, it is so really easy. I do always use a cup of better than bouillon, though, in addition to the drippings. I like the added richness and flavor; 1tsp. to 1 cup of water. I slowly add in a cup of cornstarch slurry -- 1 tbsp. to 1 cup water for gravy, I don't like using too much cornstarch, steals flavor imho -- stirring and reducing it all at high heat with the added cup of bouillon makes me around 1.5 - 2 cups of gravy. Smashed fresh garlic and onion taters with skin on, and green beans. Anyway, just sharing. Peace. I went to my daughter and son in laws house for Thanksgiving last year. She asked me to make some gravy, but she didn't have any flour or corn starch. Thinking outside the box, I ended up making the turkey gravy base with crushed crackers. Turned out great. |

We were close families until they brow beat me about the anti-vaxx stand I took. How ironic, they didn't like that you were anti-vax & now he's messed up from it. Is it just me or do these type of stories keep popping up everywhere? Sadly.....yes. It's not just you. |

I'm sure glad I was a part of them. Good people follow you. I missed a lot of threads. Caught the Rittenhouse one when the verdict came in. Power was out here twice in a week for several days. Then I had company over who was trying to tag a buck for the last days of late hunting season. I got mine early season. One was a first time hunter who I was field training so she can get experience before she takes the hunter safety course. she took a safety course deferral for first time hunters and I agreed to instruct her. It was unfortunate she didn't get her buck nor her dad, but they didn't have much time to get up here to really put in the time for it. She's a great kid. My best friends daughter. Then my bamboo counter top arrived. So now I need to draw up some plans and prepare to build the base unit. Yay! |

So now I need to draw up some plans and prepare to build the base unit. Yay! Quoting: Osmium76 wowwww, that's like early Christmas. :smiley_4: I bet it'll be beautiful. I am no master craftsman, but I did use to work at a furniture factory that cut lumber and glued them into wood panels for furniture orders. I was checked off for operating nearly every machine in the plant from saw, to glue kiln, to sander, to rip, to shipping, to forklift, backhoe and everything in between. I actually miss that job. I had a quasi supervisory position after spending about 5 years there. Probably trained @ 250 or more people in that time for various tasks. I had to let it go for health reasons. I hope you are right. I really don't do well with that kind of stuff anymore due to the ongoing nature of my disability. If I push myself too much I really suffer now days. If I can get some extra help I think I can get er done! Still need to get some painters tape, stain and sealant along with the proper length screws, (which I probably already have on hand). I am sure I am forgetting some things. Then clear my kitchen area up and move things out of there before I get down to cuts. I am going to need to cut the counter down too. I purchased the ten foot one because the 8 was all out of stock. I decided the ten foot would give me a very nice bamboo butcher block cutting board from the leftover section. I only need about 7 feet for my counter, which will have a stainless sink and possibly another cutout also for my convection cook top. I hope to start in the next couple weeks if I can. But first need to draw up some plans so that will likely add more time. I struggle with self motivation....also.....heh. I watched that video you posted. Loved the energy and attention the couple had for each other and the project they were working on. |
