Re: Food with Attitude!
oooh, and for pool - I got 2 cheeses from a goat creamery today. One is a really really nice camembert..the kind that is all runny at room temp. The other is a hard cheese that is a little crumbly and tastes like a cross between parmesan and cheddar. They named it 'Golden Thistle'. I still wish I could find the farmhouse cheddar with dried nettle I had one year. It was so good...the nettles actually made a buzz in your mouth, not like hot or spicy, more like pop rocks. It was really fun to eat.

So much support here, thanks you guys. The Imgur illiteracy thing had been bugging me - glad to be on board now. For those who mentioned it, the shiny blue piece on my desk is labradorite. My physician, who is also an energetic healer, gave it to me. I think it’s said to have protective properties. The ho made rosewood rosary is there for the same reason.

I took a road trip to Polyface farms today. I even got to meet William Salatin! "Disregarding conventional wisdom, the Salatins planted trees, built huge compost piles, dug ponds, moved cows daily with portable electric fencing, and invented portable sheltering systems to produce all their animals on perennial prairie polycultures".

As to measuring, I rarely do, and only when I’m baked. Even then, it’s always a liberal pour. So glad Mr. Louis brought me over to this thread. Having a fabulous time!

Re: Food with Attitude!
I have a rosewood rosary that was my grandpa's. He said it every morning at 5 am, then started his day proper like with a Scotch on the rocks and a big fry up. He made it to 96, but had a few drunken brawls in the nursing home, one landed him in jail for a night.

:shots:

My son was 11 at the time and played his guitar and sang this. It was incredibly poignant. There wasn't a dry eyed WWII veteran in sight.

I have Joel Salatin's book 'Everything I Want To Do Is Illegal'. And I know some people who started out with his model, but adapted it to our climate.

I think he did a lot for modern organic farming and polyculture.

Fried bologna..stuffed in a muffin tin, with an egg cracked into the cup it makes, topped with a little cheese and baked to cook the egg.

It's so good!
 Quoting: drinking buddy

That sounds good! We used to fry it, c cutting slices in the edges so it didn't ball up. Went great with eggs., Duh, what you just said! Lol

Para, I say "yea" also.

We used to make something called flying saucers at the nursing home I used to work at. It's really simple and surprisingly filling!

Put parchment paper on a cookie sheet, lay out the number of slices of bologna that you want.

Heat your oven to 350 degrees.

While you're waiting for the oven to preheat, make up an equal amount of instant mashed potatoes at about 1/2 to 3/4 cup per slice. I know, but real potatoes don't work as well for some reason. If you do use leftover real tater's, thin them down some.

Put a scoop of potatoes on each slice of bologna and bake until the bologna curls up like a bowl. Put a slice of cheese on that and put back in the oven until melted.

Really good in the winter! I can never eat more than 2.

I know it sounds weird, but it's surprisingly good. We always had it with broccoli or California blend.

We used to make them with cooked hamburger patties for the ones that couldn't have bologna. I've never had them that way, but the residents loved them. We used to feed staff as well and almost everyone ate on those days.

I saw this video on TikTok last night (yeah I know - don't judge me lol) and it hit home. Motivating and eye opening too. It's true. And I need to apply my discipline in other areas of my life, other than just eating.

Anywho, wanted to share in case anyone else needed to hear it.

It's a good message. Everyone has their weakness.

I always thought food was harder because you can't just give it up.

My son talked me into downloading TikTok. I eventually uninstalled it because I don't have the patience. I don't look at Facebook anymore either.

I was sad when my guy retired. He was 73 when he did my surgery a few years back. People said aren't you afraid that he's so old? He was tip top & he knew what he was doing!

The NP they handed me off to is great though. Maybe she learned from him.

Put the cookie sheet with the bologna in the oven while you're making the instant potatoes and DON'T cut the bologna!! You WANT it to make a bowl and be a bit brown around the edge. Put the potatoes in the bowl and then cover with the cheese to melt.

Sorry about that. I was trying to multi task at the time. It didn't work too well, I see.

I think yogurt has more protein, but it does have a little chalky taste. I'll use it in place of sour cream if we're out, but I wouldn't choose to.
