The thing that really matters is making a self-sustaining civilization on Mars as fast as possible. One path is we stay on earth forever and there will be some eventual extinction event. Combined, the asking prices for the seven homes tops $100 million. I'm skeptical as I've seen the kind of machines they use to make tunnels. And if there was really an issue they could use dynamite or some kind of more contemporary mining explosive.

I would think really hard rock would be ideal for a tunnel to go through actually, with the problem being looser rock like maybe if you hit an area of low quality coal.

Not that a Caribbean tunnel doesn't seem like a pretty massive undertaking. If it connected to Florida you'd almost have to go directly under Cuba for like almost the whole length of Cuba itself.

But it looks like if you really wanted to you could basically go the whole way to Granada and then Guayana in South America by just tunneling under the main axis of the major Caribbean islands along the way from Florida and Cuba.
