I'm sure it's about the Holidays and Trump being nice to his staff. His current status is outgoing, so his staff probably doesn't have pressing things to work on.

If things were "normal" right now I'd say this order is relatively benign..but...things are very far from normal. So, I would say this is some sort of "evacuation" order. That is my guess.

He's just giving them a head start because they're going to have to leave within a month anyway.

Why would Pahlavi be behind getting Trump out of office? Biden will reinstate Obama's deal with Iran and empower the ayatollahs. Presumably, Pahlavi seeks his family's reinstatement to the throne, or alternatively, democratic elections, which means it would not be in his interests to support the guy who will never facilitate either of those things.

Either way, I think you vastly overstate Reza Pahlavi's capabilities. He's not much more than a private citizen, and hasn't been for a very long time.

it's the same thing. State of emergency is politi-speak for it. That's why he was able to close the borders and bypass all of the red tape on vaccines. It's how the governor's were able to order lockdowns and bypass a lot of state regulations.
