Paramedics raced to the scene as Laura Vilarinho, 19, lay motionless on her side in the hole in Minas Gerais State, Brazil on Wednesday.

The law student suffered a torn ligament to her left elbow in the incident which happened in Uberlandia.

A dramatic video shows Laura walk down the street with her mum before the pair wait to cross a dual carriageway in the city centre. The teenager falls and disappears from view within seconds of stepping onto the central reservation."
