BTW, Marlin has always been the everyday rifle - if your doing high end target shooting there are others but that's an entirely different story. Savage as #2 behind marlin

Some of you have obviously never hunted boars before, shoot them with a .22lr and not get a kill shot - they will charge you. I have seen a single boar kill two pit bulls before.

just keep the 10mm or wheel gun on standby

Technically, more people have been killed by a .22 caliber than any other caliber bullet.

This doesn't mean they are good at killing humans, but it also means they can still kill.

The difference is that I would have to be an excellent shot to kill a moving target with a .22lr, while I only need to be conscious enough to pull a trigger with a 12 gauge shotgun.

most .22 human deaths are up close and personal. short range headshot. multiple shots.

on animals that's not happening. it's going to be mid to long range and a .22 just won't do shit unless you get a perfect ideal shot. which while possible isn't likely.

.410 slug/triple works pretty good.

Look, I'm not saying .22 is the absolute bestest caliber you could ever own.

I just get tired of people shitting on it.

I used to kill rabbits hanging around my garden. Now I shoot out the window a 1/2 inch under their ass and persuade them to go and dine elsewhere.

They're not smart at first, it takes several rounds to get them to figure it out (especially the young ones).
