Re: had to pull out my own tooth..
back lower molar...for the past two months its been awfully loose.
it moved so much i couldnt speak correctly, couldnt chew, i could shove my tongue underneath it halfway.

i knew it had to come out...no saving this one.
(must have broken it somehow and it was only holding on by one side of its roots.)

watched dentist videos of extractions on NOT loose teeth, that was just brutal.
found a video on helping kids get their loose teeth out.
one girl had a back loose molar like me...so i did what they did.

here is what i did:
wrapped dental floss around my tooth and tied in several knots.
wrapped the other end of floss around a hand weight.
it took me, i kid you not, half an hour to get that tied.

then i walked to my back door and threw the weight outside as hard and fast as i could.
no pain!@
tooth is fully out.
kept a black tshirt between my teeth for half an hour so the clot could form.

three days now, not a single bit of pain.
clot still in place,
i can eat and talk again.
here is a pic of that bad boy...the roots both turn backwards so i was LUCKY.
https://imgur.com/a/AEvzYKh

i wouldnt do this again UNLESS the tooth was extremely loose.

The that tooth must have had a root canal previously because I did remove a tooth on my own because I couldn’t get to the dentist and the pain was intense I couldn’t do it myself had to have a fiend with nerves of steal rip it out with a par of players with cloth around the metal I’d that makes sense

It was very painful for days

how come dentists take those picks and jab the tops of teeth with them?
it seems like they are actually putting HOLES in the teeth when they do that..
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 17449130

yes those tools can place a enormous amount of pressure a the tip and can easily pierce the enamel.

you notice they do this at the end of the visit.

i couldnt do the PLIERS method...it hurt when i pulled on it.
so the FAST method was preferable.

i watched several men pull out their own teeth with pliers.

Teeth get loose from advanced periodontal disease. The body reacts by resorbing the bone. The bone holds the tooth in place, so once enough has resorbed the tooth becomes loose. You are really lucky because hooked roots like that typically end up being a surgical extraction.

It is NOT that big a deal to pull a lose tooth. It doesn't hurt that bad. You never want that socket that remains to get debris in it while it heals or it will get infected and causing searing pain.

Dad heard muffled yells coming from the barn . Went in to see what it was and found grandpa hanging from a rafter with a piece of bailing wire in his mouth .

He wired it up got on a ladder and kicked the ladder over but the tooth did not pull out .
Dad helped him down by grabbing his pant legs and giving them a good jerk . true story . Grandpa thanked him for it .

instead of getting a whole bunch of stitches in the bottom of my foot from walking on broken glass
(the pad under the big toe on my sole, 3 inches wide, just gaping open)
i soaked it in epsom salts many times a day until it healed.
every time it started to throb and get hot, id go soak in a hot bathtub with epsom salts until it stopped.
it was horribly deep and long, not to the bone though.
it bulged outwards and look nasty but i had read a story about a little farm girl running barefoot and having the old rusty filty pitchfork go through and out of the top of her foot, so her mother soaked it daily in epsom salts because they lived so far from town.

epsom literally PULLS the toxins and bacteria and infection OUT of the body.
i had to see for myself, plus i couldnt afford a dr visit.
it worked great!
healed MUCH quicker than without soaking and it could knock the pain down so much which is the best part imo.

the gash sealed up nicely, all on its own, i didnt keep it bandaged but let it air out in between soaks.
it healed very fast and no infection ever took hold.
the epsom would pull ANY infection out.
it took LESS than two weeks...after a week i was mostly healed.not all the way but close.just amazing to me.

idk why doctors dont do this more.
its so simple, its a KNOWN aid and is so cheap@
i never forced the gash closed but let it do it all by itself.
ill have to dig for that picture its quite nasty.

Re: had to pull out my own tooth..
maybe the curve on the roots was curved in such a way that the weight worked with the curve. could have been a different story if the curve had been the other way. glad it worked out for you. sounds like if it was that loose needed a dentist anyway if something did go wrong.

most dentists will pull bad teeth pro bono, for future reference

you kind of want to stay on top of periodontal disease, or you'll end up having 32 teeth pulled at once

that was a bad day

Does that tooth only have two roots? If that's a back molar, it should have four. Perhaps two broke and they're still in the "hole". That would account for the looseness. I know you pride yourself on self-healing, but I'd get that checked out.
More deplorable all the time.

Curved roots are often wrapped around the facial nerve, and such teeth should be extracted very carefully by an expert. OP is lucky he can still feel half his face.
