I agree with you to a certain extent.

I think we are possibly talking about the same idea, but looking at it from different lenses.

I stated: "You see it all the time...People stay in shitty situations, enduring pain and misery because of the HOPE their spouse will change, the HOPE that someone will act on their behalf, the HOPE that God will eventually answer their prayers and make things better. Hell, the Lottery is a multi billion dollar business based on sheer HOPE."

I guess the question should be, "In WHAT are you placing your Hope?"

The vast majority of Hope in the world is waiting for someone/something to change the situation for the better.

THAT kind of hope sucks balls, and will leave a person in the same unchanging situation until they die."

Now, Hope in YOUR ABILITY to grit it out, to fight to change, to trust in your heart to lead you to the right place...THAT KIND OF HOPE is a game changer.

As an individual YOU are your only hope. Not someone else.
