Smart cat! Keep an eye on him though. Sometimes they will "go" elsewhere to tell you there is something wrong - like a bladder infection or crystals in the urethra.

Know where your closest emergency vet is and their phone number just in case. Confirm their hours. This is especially critical over a holiday. You might want to give them a call to find out if they will be open over New Years Eve/Day. If his urethra does block up, you will need to get him to the vet before his bladder bursts. There will be no "waiting until the morning" type of situation.
