It is... absolutely.

In fact, that whole idea of making machines that look like humans and are able to do anything human can do... is terrifying itself, if you think a bit further.

It makes me think of those jackasses you see in those "funny" videos who get too cocky for their own good and then go on breaking their necks or something like that....

Absolutely misplaced self-confidence that can only end up in disaster.

Besides, AC... "nobody is impressed" is obviously not true, as someone gave 5* before you gave the 1*....

Anyway, be that as it may... I am not trying to impress anyone really. I just hope what I am trying to say will get some resonance with people who care enough to give it some thought.

Well OP, I work with IT and automation. I can tell you for sure that machines not ONLY do what humans can do, they can do it faster, better, cheaper and safer.

There is a whole sociology field related to industry 4.0 where machines can do even basically all non-skilled labor. I've seen quarries firing 90% of workers overnight with the bought of a few equipment that will do the same task, more productively, cheaper, better quality, safer and more reliably. Now expand this scenario to basically all fields. That's a lot of people out of job and no perspective of getting another one for lack of skill. And expand it worldwide, you'll get a recipe for a disaster.

Personally, I think even this pandemic is handy for this to happen faster.

Yes, I can see what you are saying.

But maybe the purpose of those dancing robots was not selling them, but making them look less terrifying to the general public.

See what I mean?

Making them look.... well, truly human, in fact.

But you have to let that trickle through.

A machine which looks completely human... munch on that thought a bit.

Yes. And to think that these machines will, for many people, replace humans even for ... having SEX with - is truly alarming.

I do find that jumping/running robot especially amazing. You have to try and imagine/visualize it is really just a machine doing this.
