Quoting: Indrid_Cold It is going to drop like rock after they banned the president. It was in the teens when he took office, now it's around $50. It's probably gonna take a 30% or more haircut. It's a gravy boat with biscuit wheels. Tptb just print print print print print more Federal Reserve notes to prop up their choice picks so they never ever fall don't you fucking know anything |

Liberty420 User ID: 72414838 ![]() 01/09/2021 08:52 AM ![]() Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I’ve been researching energy sector stocks since I saw this thread... I’ve got an idea on how the market works. Invest in early companies expecting to boom. Take advantage of the dips of bigger companies. Especially dips based solely on emotional reasons. Sure trumps off Twitter but the half the nation and world uses it.. Any advice would be great! |

I don't advise short selling a stock as a good way to get your feet wet with stock trading. By an index fund until you're ready to do the real work to pick individual stocks. For the record, $600 isn't going to do much and many funds require an initial investment of $2500. |

But with Twitter that’s a no brainer... if it goes below 30 in a few hours why wouldn’t you buy? |

Unless the whole country sees it for what it is, it’s gonna rebound if the news of banning trump causes it to take a hit |

Quoting: Liberty420 So Twitter is sitting at 51. I currently don’t own stock but if I purchase at the lowest it hits and wait for a rebound, that isn’t short selling correct? No, Short selling is where you don't own any of the stock. You borrow it from your broker for whatever the price is, say $51 and then you sell it. Then the stock drops to say $31. You buy the stock back at $31 and give those shares back to your broker and pocket the $20 profit per share difference. That is short selling. Last Edited by Indrid_Cold on 01/09/2021 09:21 AM |

Quoting: Liberty420 So Twitter is sitting at 51. I currently don’t own stock but if I purchase at the lowest it hits and wait for a rebound, that isn’t short selling correct? No, that's not short selling. Short selling is when you "borrow" a stock you don't own to sell at a higher price in hopes of buying back at a lower price to collect the difference. You pay the house a fee for using their stock. I usually just buy put options if i plan to ride to momentum downward. |

So kind of like taking a loan out on an individual stock in hopes of it falling? Why not just buy when it goes low? And dump on the rebound? |

Indrid_Cold (OP) User ID: 79759660 ![]() 01/09/2021 09:59 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Because you never know where the bottom is. Let's say it drops to $35 and you buy because you think it's cheap and then it drops to $30 or lower. Now you are stuck until it rebounds and that could take months, years, maybe never. The drop will be very fast and violent. So that makes it a fairly quick and easy trade. |

With Twitter I can see the rebound being quicker, but definitely some stocks that there would be more risk of a slower recovery. So is what I explained considered day trading? And you need a minimum amount of 25k for that? I have very little knowledge of the markets as you can see. Pretty good common sense that’s why I was researching energy. With trump out I can see a lot of alternative energy companies jumping up, the question is who. And what exact sectors I guess. Sorry for derailing the thread, I guess I gave it some bumps with my questions |

But it's a lot harder because you have to wait several days after each trade for the money to settle into your account. |
