Are mushrooms responsible for your consciousness?

Have you ever heard of the ophiocordyceps mushroom ? What it does to reproduce is scary AF ! The spore of the mushroom makes its way into the central nervous system of an ant and controls the ants behavior. The ant will climb to the highest spot around its neat where it will die die to the mushroom sprouting out of its body . This allows for maximum spread of the spore to the rest of the colony . This isn’t the ONLY insect affected by this mushroom or a cousin of it . There are also a parasite that does some crazy stuff to grasshoppers , link here ( [link to www.newscientist.com (secure)] )

Scientists still don’t understand where consciousness comes from !

All of this got me to thinking about the possibility that humans could be similarly affected and we would be oblivious. We have some strange attractions to things that are not good for us like sugar and alcohol . have we as a species been hijacked by a black mold that craves sugar ? The only way it survives in you is under conditions that are created from high glucose levels . This mold doesn’t make us do crazy stuff like the grasshopper and it’s parasite and doesn’t grow mushrooms out of our heads , instead it produces just enough of a particular secretion to make you crave the sugar it needs to survive . The only way to kill the conscious altering mold is to forgo sugar completely. Sugar has become so ingrained into our diets that it’s almost impossible to avoid now . How would you know if your “self “ was being manipulated by a parasitic mold ?
Just another random thought . Thanks for your time . Kick the sugar and alcohol and smoke more Ganga , most of this is stream of consciousness BS but it couldn’t hurt to kick the sugar for a bit .
