opera is owned by the chinese now, and duckduckgo requires java to be on in order to use it.

startpage uses googles database without the tracking, and without the java or cookies for complete non blocking of all content. I use duckduckgo only if I can't find something on startpage.

Like for instance, bitchute's search is really fucked up, but duckduckgo can search bitchute much easier but startpage's database from google doesn't include bitchute.

Brave forces links to open in new tab and that's cancer.

Brave uses Chromium which is the open source version of Chrome, but doesn't use Chrome-specific telemetry code or does it allow sync with Google.

It's not tracking you like Chrome does.

I'm a web developer, so I'm not offering you an opinion. This is how the browser functions. You'll notice an improved battery life if you work off a laptop a lot.

I do find it weird they block ads but then serve you ads for their digital coin, but you can turn it off.

Start Page is better.

Firefox combined with Arkenfox user.js is the most secure/private browser available. It takes some tweaking to get it to run as you want it to but it's worth it. Plus it's one of the few browsers (vivaldi being another) where you can still get tabs below address bar (more tweaking required)

Vivaldi did it first, and did it better.

Been using it for about a year. I can't vouch for its chrome parts particularly but it is much faster and it has one hell of an ad blocker.

The guys that made and ran Opera before it got taken over now make Vivaldi. It has all the stuff you liked about Opera, privacy, customizability, built in tracker & adblocker, picture in picture for video (super handy when you want to watch a video in a thread while scrolling down to read the rest of the thread or different thread alltogethrer. Try it, you'll like it. It's better than brave.
