It's been difficult with so much to learn but I'm hoping to do it really soon. |

Ostria1 User ID: 68590854 Greece 01/12/2021 04:58 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | These are really cool! Keep the good work going! Quoting: Ostria1 I may try the Unreal Engine some time. I have seen some great videos made with it! It's free so nothing's stopping you! Yes i know, but it needs to learn the program and im not in the mood to do it now! How long did it take to creat the first one? Ostria |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 79031532 United States 01/12/2021 05:00 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Looks pretty cool. That is a long ways from my pirated 3d studio in DOS back in the day. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 79031532 Haha, Max ran in DOS? It did indeed. There was a three dee outfit in my city where I went to college. I wanted to work for them. I made a 10 minute demo tape that got me in the door. It was not quite their caliber but I do stand by what I made. It took me at least 200 hours to render that few minutes on my single PC - that was fast at the time. And btw...it was not MAX at that time. Just 3DS. |

Yes i know, but it needs to learn the program and im not in the mood to do it now! How long did it take to creat the first one? My first scene or the one I just posted? In general, it would probably take a few weeks/months to figure out the software if you followed the right tutorials. I would check out Quixel's youtube channel... if you followed the tutorials they have, you could get up to speed pretty quickly. It will take some time to learn the material editor if you aren't familiar with programming node networks, but for the majority of my work, I just use the Megascans materials and assets from Quixel (free for UE user!) as they come with minor tweaks. |

I was using it back in about 2001-2003 and then went to learn how to paint and kind of gave up on 3d for a while. FYI this scene is raytraced in realtime and runs at about 50 fps @2560x1080 on my rtx 2080 SUPER card. It's a good time to be an artist for sure. |

What you showed was really good. Keep going. |

The one about the path in the forest, if you remember. Quoting: Ostria1 I have kept it till today to watch again! I do know which one you mean, there's a ton of them now. Good luck! Thank you! Keep working and post it here for us to see! Ostria |

Quoting: President-Elect BFD Here's a seascape I'm working on in Unreal Engine 4.26. I'll post other work here in the future as well. Cheers! This one really shows the depth-fade material which is basically a blend between the more "aqua" blue-greens in the shallower areas and the darker/deeper blues where the water gets deeper. It looks more tropical than the others, playing with the lighting really changes everything. |

I can almost hear the sound of the waves rushing in. Just looking at the photo on a wall would be so relaxing. I agree with the other poster; I think you could sell these. |
Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 77580587 United States 01/12/2021 05:48 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Thanks again for the encouragement, I rarely take the time to share my work these days but it's great to hear what people think. I'm so busy learning and keeping up with current events/shitposting that I don't get much down time to do so. The days go by so fast, I am kind of baffled tbh... it's like living in a timewarp that just goes faster and faster. There's never enough time in a day... Thanks for taking the time to comment. |
Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 77580587 United States 01/12/2021 06:53 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | This is a southwestern biome I'm working on, this is my most recent environment. I'm currently finishing procedural tools in Houdini to create random cactuses and desert plants. Procedural asset-building is kind of a rabbit hole in itself, I really have to be careful because all of that stuff takes up so much damned time... I really would prefer to create artwork and get back into painting but it's easy to get locked onto each one of the tasks and get lost in it. [imgur] [link to imgur.com (secure)] |

Raytraced shadows/ao/reflections with SSGI for global illumination. Hair made with Houdini (simple groom, nothing crazy), fabric with Marvelous Designer, head scan by Ten24, other scans are Quixel.
