Original Music.... your opinions please...

I was just wondering if this sounds anything like what I named it.

I am becoming less apprehensive about sharing my creations lately.

This one was produced entirely on an Android phone, from scratch.

Mind you, I am completely self taught, and have had almost no interaction with other musicians. Most people I know, dont even know I know how to do such things.

I really wish YouTube had an easier way to upload an audio file, while attaching a photo for video from a mobile device, rather than me having to transfer the exported audio from the DAW on my phone to my PC, and use Premier Pro to add a thumbnail photo for a vid. Quite a process to simply upload a song.

Anyways, whacha think?

(Lotsa sub bass here, so, tho it was produced on an android phone, that is NOT the optimal listening device.)

(Also, can anyone tell me where the photo is of? I took it, so I know, but, do you?)

Well, I've never heard or seen a mountain monsoon so there's that. Second, wow am impressed you did this on a cell phone. I had no idea android had music software, so that's cool! Don't know what mountain range that is I live in Florida not many mountains down here lol. Just a guess, somewhere in Oregon? I enjoyed the song, was wanting to hear the Opening drum lines more powerful, Bass lines more upfront and more powerful since this is a mountain you're describing and little bit less of the "alien" sci-fi electronic sound. For my ears, a little more aggressive oomph overall, to me it sounds more like a light afternoon rain shower. I liked it though, will listen to it again. Keep up the good work!

I'm just glad you're still here, Tantalus. You were absent for awhile and I felt some concern for you, but here you are, creating things.

I listen to music on Sound Cloud and Bandcamp. Lots of people do.

It reminds me of the Waveform Records compilations from the 90's: 1 AD, 2 AD, etc. Nice feel to it, excellent.

Re: Original Music.... your opinions please...
I’ll give you my honest input. Take it for what it’s worth.

To standout with electronic music you have to be great. This was okay. There was nothing to hook me. Nothing that popped out. It was kinda repetitive. I don’t mean this to discourage. You have a solid foundation for creating music. You need to build on that. Being a self taught musician myself I had to come to the realization that I was bad before I could actually begin to build on my own foundation and start to truly understand music. I don’t consider people with no musical background who make music solely on their phones musicians. That may be cynical but to me, in order to be a musician you have to study it to an extent. You have to understand it. But I can’t deny that you created this. That does make you an artist. When you can create something from nothing you are truly an artist. It’s when the artist becomes a musician that the magical things can happen. That’s how you become great. Get to work. Get your DAW installed on a computer. Get a cheap keyboard and start to learn basic theory. Know basic chords and progressions. Immerse yourself in it. The more you understand music the better your creations will be. Good luck!

Wow, nice job!

I love the way the vox chords kind of stutter skip. Then you did the same with the upper bass. Also, loved the slow filter on the pad for ambience.

Keep going, you're definitely onto something:)

Of course, if I ever am caught in a mountain monsoon, I'm going to think of this and curse you sideways.

If you'll note, in the OP, I said I made "this one" on my phone.

On my PC, I work in FL Studio and Reason. I have a cheap Yamaha keyboard I use as a MIDI controller, as well as an Akai MPK Mini MkII. I also have a Behringer iAxe guitar with a built in USB sound module so I can USB it right to my PC and direct into my DAW.

I guess the limitations of producing music on a phone came across as me being ametuer.

I was just trying something new.

In my experience, monsoons are brief, powerful, extremely isolated thunderstorms. If you are at the right vantage point, sometimes you can watch broken up packs of them moving through the mountain peaks, surrounded by sunshine.

Right on. I’d love to hear something not created on your phone.

I have FL installed on my studio computer. An olllllld version of it. I never took the time to learn it. It’s pretty wild with what you can do with it. Buddies of mine make shit on it all the time it’s just not my thing. I’m more of a drums, guitar and bass kind of creator. It’s a different process for sure. I’m gonna have to google what an I axe is. Honestly have no idea lol. Anyhow I hope you weren’t insulted. You have a knack for this and it takes balls to post your work. I know. You can find one of mine in a thread called A Message To Trump. Last updated at 1013 I think if you wanna go throw some shade back at me lol. But yeah man, share more!

If you remove the snare drum track, then your composition will be thematically congruent, in my opinion. The snare drum evokes an impression of traveling through an urbanscape instead of being out in a rural mountainscape.

I agree. Kinda sounds like something you'd hear in a danceclub. The song overall isn't bad, but doesn't really deliver the experience you're looking for.

I would love to collaborate, but, really, I dont know any other musicians. I have tried to convince a few friends with potential to pick up an instrument, but, to no avail.
